SatGuys Fantasy Baseball

Do All-Star games count when it comes to Fantasy Baseball or not?

(In other words, let's say a guy on your team wins the game MVP award or drives in some runs or hits a homer or two. Does that count for your team?)

Well, I took your advice, and added a 2B that had a good positive percentage and was available- Luis Castillo, the Mets table-setter with a .365 average.

To do so, I had to get rid of Fausto Carmona, which means HD can pick him up,

You have an empty spot on your roster, so I don't think you needed to dump Carmona...you could also DL Doumit and pickup an additional player.

I have a question for you guys:

Who do you think is a better hitter, Adam LaRoche or Mike Jacobs.

Every week I flip-flop these guys as my first baseman, but one doesn't stand out from the other too much .

I replaced J.D. Drew (who's day-to-day) with LaRoche at one of my utility positions today, and benched Drew for the week.

At the end of this week I'm activating Joe Mauer from the DL and have to release someone. LaRoche OR Jacobs are my leading candidates to get the heave- ho (It would have been Dioner Navarro, but I already released him the other day and added a pitcher).

Thoughts?

That's a crap-shoot....I'd probably keep Jacobs. I've always liked his power.

Looking at your team, you have a lot more to worry about than that! :D:D:D:D

To answer your question, no, the stats don't count.

Hanley Ramirez, my number one draft pick, left tonight's game after getting hit on his left wrist.

X-Rays were negative, but Han-Ram is listed day-to-day. :(

I will no longer be undefeated come Sunday night.

I'm getting absolutely demolished in my matchup this week.

If our league had a slaughter rule it would be over right now! :o

Yea as much as I want to get excited about my team this week, It is still early.

PS anyone looking ofr a 2nd baseman or Pitching let me know, I have some to trade if I can get a power hitter.

I started 2-0 with comfortable victories and now I am going to go to 2-2 . . . hitting has dramatically cooled off with the injuries to McCann and Ramirez, Hawpe and Greene . . . gotta love injuries :( :( :(

I made several changes to my roster after my abyssmal week.

I reactivated Joe Mauer, and I claimed both Edwin Jackson and Todd Helton off waivers.

Even then, it seems about 35% of the guys find their way to the DL!
I 'm convinced that because pitchers have been babied for the last two decades, their arm strength and stamina no longer develop to the point where they can sustain an entire season. The reason starters until the Eighties or so could throw better than 300 innings a season is because they threw constantly and built up their arms, elbows, wrists and shoulders. Now they have pitch counts in Little League!

Damn right they do & they should. How many of those kids never got a chance to play HS, college, or a shot at pro ball because they threw their arm out as kids.

There's no way to answer your question. And of course there will always be unscrupulous coaches who don't care about their kids (although I have never seen one). But you talk with pitching coaches in high school and college and they'll tell you that kids coming up simply aren't being conditioned to pitch more than five or six innings. That has revolutionized pitching in the majors, and I would argue for the worse.
