I just wanted to say that these uplink reports just saved me a good bit of hassle today.
I took a job for a snowbird here in Phoenix and he only had a 300 dish (the ones that came standard on the RV roof). Well, aligned him to 119 and all was great. Until.....
He called me today to say I pointed him at the wrong satellite. I had him check USA on 105 to confirm that he was on 119 and he was. Well his problem was that he had called DISH to get PHX locals and when it didn't come through, he called them back. They said he was pointed at the wrong satellite so he called me to give me an earful. I told him that if I moved him to 110, he would lose core programming. He stated that in years past, he was able to get locals and core on that one dish. I told him I would check into it.
Well, I found an uplink report from 10/13/07 that showed PHX locals being moved from 119 t05 to 110 t20. This, of course after t20 was changed from 8psk to qpsk the month before. So, I called the guy back and explained to him that prior to 10/13/07, a dish that was only pointed at 119 would get PHX locals and core programming, but after that, a customer would need a 500 dish. I told him most customers already had one at that point because there's been well over 8 years since the upgrade so it isn't uncommon for DISH to shuffle channels between those two satellites.
I gave him options ranging from a new RV 500 on the roof to a RV tripod and 500 dish. We'll see what he decides on. Without these reports, I wouldn't have been able to give this guy a straight answer. Kudos to the OP.
