Satellite dishes

1000.2 sat dish is for any where in the country and you can use the eastern arc or western arc lnb to aim and point to either the eastern sats:61.5 or 72.7 or the western sats: 110,119,129. The 1000.4 sat is for eastern arc sats but you can add the 77 sat to the mix. It is really not needed any longer and most can use the regular 1000.2 sat dish since the 77 sat just has about 5cities locals that are also duplicated on the 61.5 sat. The 1000 plus sat dish , I think ,is for both western arc sats 110,119,129 but it also adds the 118 sat for international channels.

Mike, the 1000.4 is a larger dish than the 1000.2 and can also be used either on WA or EA, depending on which 3 lnb pack you use.
Is there anyone who knows the exact size of all the dishes? I have come up with the following dimensions from on line research. So not sure if correct.
1000.2 19"h x 24"w
1000.4 22"h x 28"w
1000+ 23.8"h x 30.9"w

I don't know much about the dish antennas so downloaded the installation instructions to take a closer look at them. During my Hopper 3 system install the DISH technician was having a devil of time fine tuning the elevation angle on my dish 1000+. I noticed that the 1000.4 has an elevation rod to fine tune the elevation angle. Do you installers prefer the elevation rod compared to the other two dish antennas? Can the 1000.4 dish mounting bracket be installed on a 1000+ dish reflector?

I don't know if the 1000.4 mount can be used with the 1000+ reflector or not. But I can tell you as one that sets up and aims his 1000.4 as often as daily, that the threaded elevation adjusting rod is a real time saver compared to the 1000.2. Because I set up so often, I replaced all of the adjusting nuts on my dish with large wingnuts for a no tools needed setup, but obviously that's not needed for conventional installations. I would never consider going back to a 1000.2, and now that the DPH42 is available, I won't need to even when we upgrade to H3's.

Good info, thanks.

When I upgraded to the h3 I really wanted to keep the 1k4. So I modified it, took the arm off a 1k2 and slid it inside the 1k4 arm. Was then able to use the 1k2 yoke and dph lnb. The focal point had to be adjusted for optimal signal. So far it has been rock solid with great signal.

I was considering doing the 1K2/1K4 mod for the DPH LNB's, but I also wanted two H3 capability. The DPH42 takes care of both issues, and even lets me still get the 77 sat on EA using our existing EA DPP LNB. The 77 sat works for us sometimes on heavily treed RV sites when I can't get a clean shot at the wider spread for 61.5 and 72.7, but I can hit 72.7 and 77.

Using a larger reflector might, but does not guarantee a stronger signal.

The larger dish edges might be outside the lnb's periferal vision or the focal point/line of the dish might not match the pattern of your lnb's.
