I've been told that Applied Instruments Sat Buddies (Dual, Sat Buddy 1 and 2) recently recieved some kind of a hardware and/or software upgrade so that they can be used to peak in a Dish Pro Plus LNB (if you buy a new one, it should be DPP ready or you can send your old one in for the upgrade for $15.00). Does anyone have any specifics on this? Does it really help?

Haven't heard of that, but the problem as I understand it is the power draw of the DDP. I know first hand it will burn out a Digistat.

To answer my own question (an engineer from Applied Instr just called me):

All they did was correct the problem of a Sat Buddy going into 'over-voltage' mode that would occur occasionally when hooked up to a DPP (due to the excessive draw). It doesn't help it peak in DPPs any better than any other meter.

What I have done is power the DDP with a rx and use 2nd port for meter and have used digistat or satbuddy or birdog and all have worked. But usually just use a DP twin and align, then put DDP in.
