Everyone's been talking about room on 61.5 for national HD....what about the subscribers who are currently pointed at 129? Will we be out of luck?

I wonder if that means we'll have to wait longer then for national HD....(although I'll have to point at 61.5 if they put cleveland locals there...)

129 currently has two transponders (1 and 11) available for national HD channels, if E* chooses to use them. Transponder 1 was recently cleared of all channels and taken out of the tables (temporarily, we hope!). Transponder 11 currently has HD test channels up on it (no "available" channels). Both TP's are (or were) running 8PSK MPEG4, so each should be able to support about 6 national HD channels.

The only question is whether E*-5 has sufficient power to support those TPs at high enough power output to be viewable (in addition to what's already downlinked).

What is...

the Western Arc?

Also, since the 129 is such a sick, ailing bird, why didn't they mirror 61.5 on the 148? or is that bird even sicker?

Ciel-2 will have spot beams, so all the cities will be able to be moved to spots, freeing up more space. Dish has 1/2 the satellite (other half for Canadian service).

There's also a third that is empty and active.

Thanks, Digi. Is it TP3 or 24 by chance? LyngSat shows TPs 3, 15, 20, and 24 being active, but they don't show up on "The List." LyngSat does NOT show TP10 being active, but it IS on "The List." TP3 and 24 are shown as MPEG4 8PSK.

Is there a way to show "active but empty" TPs in "The List?"

How high is 61.5's elevation angle?

129 bird not good
