Re: [VOOM] rain fade?

RE: [VOOM] Re: rain fade?

Wilt, you're letting secrets out. No beta yet means a March release won't
happen. I would guess 4-6 months out at least. If it's Motorola behind the
development, probably longer, IME.

I am hearing the reason it's not in beta yet is because they are having problems updating the software via satellite. At the moment the only way they can update the software on the box is by a special serial port.

From what I understand the software has come along very well. :)

I am really looking forward to the VOOM DVR so I can dump dish. ;)

RE: [VOOM] Re: rain fade?

Scott, I'm just not a Motorola fan. No reflection on Wilt or Voom, but I
have customers waiting months for critical processor upgrades from that
company. They don't seem to be in a hurry to do much of anything. I'm amazed
they can even compete in the cell phone space.

If the problem you describe is both hardware and software related, we're in
for a long wait. Probably too far down the path to bag those guys and go
with another vendor, but that would be my choice.

No, not necessarily true, just no stories.

Poor choice of words on my part. Primarily commenting on the timeline vs.
peoples' expectations here.
