Hello I am looking for some helpful information , that will help me find out if the LNBF I received with my 12-foot Andrews dish works or not.

By reading some info from here, I read that the metal box mounted on the bottom of my DMS-didital C/Ku_LNBF Mod-BSC621-2 is a Dual C-Band combiner/control box of vertical and horizontal tranmissions , does this mean that I do not need to rotate the BSC621-2 (Skew) in order to receive the proper signal needed from the Sats.
I thought that metal box was a switch required for the receiver to choose C-band or Ku_band from the LNBF , if it is also a switch ? , will it still work with another switch called DiSEqC Switch 4 in 1 , so I can choose my other dishes locked onto other Sat's ?
I only get the green signal bar to come up to 79% on my CW-800 with the BSC621-2 on 12-ft Andrew dish pointed at 125*W , I am using this Sat for my first C-band test because it is really in the clear , with no trees at all, even 127*W which ever one is easier for the first reception of C-Band DVB channels .

I am going out now to try my Focus Linear 10750 LNB on that dish , just to get it locked on to one of those two Sat's first (125*W or 127*W) using Ku-band settings on the receiver, then if I lock onto one , I will put back on the BSC621-2 and change the Sat and tranponder settings on my CW-800 receiver to hopefully view C-band from that sat , unless the free BSC621-2 LNBF I got with the dish is garbage.

Helpfull information would be appreciated , I am considdering buying a new DMS-LNBF with C-band only (no Ku), from Transat Electronics.

It;s a C/ Ku lnb that is voltage controlled for H or V. There is a built in disecq switch so that 1 is C band and the 2 position is ku

I had it on my Birdview dish and was getting a lot with it in both bands.

The trick with this unit is to get it positioned just right.

Your CW receiver will work fine to change polarity and change the disecq switch position, after you set those in your system menu.

When you mentioned "The trick with this unit is to get it positioned just right", are you refering to the Skew setting of the BSC621-2 ?
And is the Polarity setting in the Antenna Setting page called the LNB Freq.-5150 ?

Thanks Iceberg : for that LNB Freq. setting so I can test the Ku-band first before I switch to the Focus 10750 Linear LNB for that test, and I will set the Diseqc # to 2 for the Ku-band part of the DMS621-2, to see if it works.

The polarity setting will be either H (horiz) or V(vert) in your setting page, and if you have a "lnb on/off" set that to on. Turn off 22 khz if you have that.

For C- band signals (since the unit is a standard, not universal on the C-band side) generally the frequency should be 5150 on the low side to 9150 on the high side. I don't know why that works but it does

Positioning the unit is for focal length (in and out of the scalar pplate to bring it a little closer or further from the dish. The second is the twisting of the unit in the scalar. It's a pain to get it adjusted just right . But once you get it, it's a pretty good performer.

Is my BSC621-2 LNBF Broke ?

I am having problems with a DMS BSC621-2 LNBF I got for free with the 12-ft dish I purchased used.

The Ku_Band seems to be dead with no active reading on the green strength bar when I set the Diseqc Number setting to #-2. Only the Diseqc #-1 or #-3 settings work.

Is the C_Band in the back of the feedhorn or in the middle ?

The green strength bar comes on good when I use Diseqc #-1 or #-3 even with the small attached coax cable removed from the unit> it was connected to the very back of the BSC621-2 feedhorn, and the other end connected to input>LNB on the attached block.
My CW-800 receiver connected to the RCV connector on the block.

I performed the following test:
I held the BSC with left hand & rested it on the LNB holder of my offset 1.2m 36" dish that is pointed and locked onto 123*W for Ku_channels. I operated the remote with right hand and set the Sat to C_Galaxy 10R (123W), then I tried different transponders I programed in from the Lingsat site for C_band on 123*W like > 4176-H/20000/3/4 and 3920-V/26470/3/4, and the best signal I only got was the green bar for Strength=85 to 86% but nothing on the Red bar Quality=0%. The dish is set to excellent signal with the Focus 10750-Linear LNB for Ku viewing with good Quality & Strength readings.
I even tried the Ku_123*W Sat setting with the Diseqc #-1 or #-3 settings and all LNB Freq settings, but it still only got the green strength bar to read good around 85% and 0%=Quality=Red bar.
Also tried it with the small attached coax cable removed.

Is this LNB broke ?

Confirm you have this model, it's the Ku Universal model: Ku LNB L.O. 9750/10600

C Band is in the middle, on the Square Box.

Signal Strength indicates that power is getting to the LNB, wires and switches are connected properly.
Quality indicates you are locked on a Transponder.

Start with C Band, best if that Sat also has Ku. You can then, power down the receiver, connect directly to the Ku LNB at the "tip" of the BSC621, power up receiver and set proper LNB settings, then tweak BSC to best signal.

Is this LNB broke ?
If you are connected directly to the Ku LNB, have the proper LNB setting in the receiver, using a known good cable direct from receiver to LNB (no switches) and have no Signal Strength, LNB may be bad.

Thanks.
Yesterday I tried the receiver directly connected to the connection on the tip of the LNBF , but I am going to try it with those settings you mentioned for the Ku.

I read a previous thread by another member on this same page, : said he locked onto 123*W using 125*W Sat settings for C_Band with the same BSC621-2 LNBF, I am also going to try this.

I didnt have the best of luck with the 621 on my 6 footer. I know some of the 621's the KU side is skewed off incorrectly. There was a modification for it

Yes I got info for the Ku_Frequency settings yesterday from Iceberg (Universal or 9750/10600)

Yes to Lak7 : It has a label on the bottom with Model info: DMS BSC621-2 LNBF Confirmed .

The Ku_band does not work , I tried the direct connection method and there was no green bar , only when connected to the C-band directly did the green bar show, I wanted to confirm it properly myself, even though the previous owner told me it did not work but the C-band works he said.
I cannot get a lock with the C-band, not even pointed at my 1.2m offset dish with proper settings, unless that dish is too small ?

I bet the Ku band does work.
This combo LNBF frustrates many users.
The C-band LNBF will work easily.
After the dish is in the right spot E-W, the Ku preforms poor until the LNBF is push a bit closer to the dish, in my experience with the BSC-621-1 (I have 2 of them).

Many fail to realize how the size of their dish affects how close they have to be.
A 3 foot dish sees 2 degrees apart on Ku and 6 degrees on C band.
My 10.5 foot KTI sees 0.5 degrees apart on Ku and 1.6 degrees on C band.
Your dish: SatLex Digital :: Technology :: Calculators :: Beam Width

So while you are on with C, you may need more tweaking to get Ku.
I had to measure 4 ways.
1. Focal length from center of dish
2. Skew off of connector box.
3. Length from edge of dish to scalar ring, in 3 different places preferably 120 degrees from each other
4. Length from edge of dish to back of Ku LNBF, in 3 different places preferably 120 degrees from each other

Also I'm still tweaking my latest BSC-621 after a week now. :o
Even when i get everything else right, the %&$*! skew is off  :( :o :D

To think I hated using the button hook dish.
Makes setting the skew and focal length a piece of cake.

Oh one more TIP: If you cant get respectable Quality, try rotating the LNBF 180 degrees.
My first BSC-621 liked that. :D
