Hi. First time poster.

I was a Dish Network subscriber back in 2003 and terminated my account. I just recently resubscribed my service and I was in good standing with my account. My problem is that I can't get any type of signal. I don't believe I have any equipment malfunctions with the dish (Dish 500 with Twin LNBFs) or the cables (I've checked them running from the reciever all the way to the dish), so I'm thinking it's my reciever (I only have one).

If I get another reciever, would I be able to use the smartcard I have with my current reciever with the replacement reciever? Or is there a process I'd have to do like call Dish and register the smartcard with the reciever?

The new recievers since last year have not had smart cards in them. If it is an older reciever that does not have the built in smart card then Dish Network may be able to activate the smart card in that reciever if you talk to the right person if the card or reciever has no balance and released from the account it was on.

Ok I've just rechecked. I'm not sure if it got knocked out of alignment but it won't hurt for me to try and adjust it.

jerryez - what do you mean if I don't have the yellow smartcard, would I not be able to access any programming?

I had a customer the other day that bought their own equip. off of ebay.
A 2700 and a 3900 both of which had blue cards. Dish turned them on with no prob. Said they would be sending out new cards, but would be able to watch everything but PPV (I think they said), untill the new cards get there.
