I want to upgrade to a 921 from an 811. If I remember correctly I had to keep HD pack for a year. If I switch I will be ok, right? I got the $249 deal on the 811.
I hope I gave enough info. My contract should be about up anyway because my bill this month included the renewal for the HD pack. Just wanted to make certain before I sold the 811.

Dish will be switching to MPEG4 sometime next year. I would not buy a 921 as it may be obsolete within a year or less.

I don't know that I would hold my breath for it being obsolete within a year or less. What if it is more than a year and then stretches out to 2 years? It'll at least still be compatible for awile. What has Dish's policy been on trade ups in the past due to technology change?

The best answer would be call DISH and ask you have a copy of the contract DISH should have a copy of the contract we don't have access to the contract unless you wish to post it. cpdretired has a good point but it is your money.

Yeah were there is a chance that the 811 and 921 will support MPEG-4! BUT they might not with this new 942 model my guess would be that their will be some new model's coming out with new chipsets that will support MPEG-4.

Attention SatelliteGuys 522 Testers

Move to MPEG4 - So is 921 obsolete in 05?
