I think If we can communicate to the receiver like stargaze said through the RS 232 connector that could be great. I think we need to look into that option. :)

Played around with it tonight and got/sent data from a DSR-410.

:):):):):):)

What did you do? enlighten us. :)

Made a cable RCA to RS232.

Ran a software program from usbj

Sent data via (S)

Got data via (G)

I have a lot to learn about this but am very happy with progress.

I have one of those cables that came with one of my boxes. When I posted about it previously, no one had any idea what it was for. Now I think we know.

I'll experiment with a WSNET 410 that can't be used anyhow, but I won't with a good receiver.

I could not agree more it would suck to kill a 920/922.

This is a photo of the 2 cables GI put in the box with a DSR410 receiver. One has a female DB9 to 3.5mm and RCA, the other is a parallel to male DB9.

Do you have Continuity tester?

If so can you test tip and ring on RCA

Tip -> 2 or 3 (DB-9)
Ring -> 2 or 3 (DB-9)

Thanks

I was going to try this idea over the weekend.

1- Try to log the SPI (Only problem is I am not sure if DSR will allow without modded firmware)
2- Master Reset
3- Remap On G1-3 (Logging SPI)
4- Master Reset
5- Replay SPI commands from log
6- See if the maps come back without going back to G1-3

Really don’t think it will be that easy. However I will give it a try.

$DTV

Connecting to the RS232 would be a nice trick. I the older computers still have a serial port and I have found this more stable then USB. I am glad someone smarter then me is figuring out how to remap the 4dtv receivers. Please supply a wiring diagram when completed so we can make our own cables.:D

Since the 4D was made in the day of Windows 95 and Pentium one's it's probably best to interface it to an old PC and OS. I knew I kept that P1- 200 and windows 95 machine for something :)

Don't want to give the 4D a heart attack with a Quad core :eek:

Lucky You!

I went with a dual core last time I encoded something in h264 I wish I had a quad.
:eek:

Well since the BD software was written in 90's back to good old dos baby!!

Waiting on parts from Digi-Key reason for lack of updates.
