I think it sucks and is a terrible move by Dish but it is what it is. If she really wants free HD then just get it already. You need to take advantage of the best promotions while you can because they don't last forever, everyone knows this. If you wait you risk missing out on that promotion but you may be able to take advantage of a new, better promotion. That's the game you play when waiting.
I do not do auto-pay on ANYTHING and I do not enter into agreements or sign contracts with anyone.
I pay month by month manually.
Last time I went into an contract and had autopay, AT&T screwed me really, really hard. I will NEVER, EVER do business with AT&T ever again. If they were the only company on earth providing phone service I would use tin cans and kite string.
I would rather cut my own head off with a rusty hacksaw than do business with them.
So no, I will not do auto-pay and I will not sign up for anything or enter into any contracts or agreements with anyone. Ever.
But whatever. Dish is really an unreasonable company with unreasonable rates.

Then, quite simply, pay the monthly $10 HD charge and quit bitching about it. You have the criteria to get it for free and refuse to use it. Not our, or Dish's fault, simply yours.....
Then it seems the problem is on your end and not Dish's. I have no issues with you not wanting to use auto pay, seems you have a good reason, but don't place blame on Dish. The promotion is there for you to take advantage of, take it or leave it.
There is no promotion. I talked to them on the phone and they told me flat out that I can not get the HD for life option anymore, period.
So that’s it. I’m done.

They're saying you can't get it no matter what or that you can only get it if you do auto pay and paperless billing?
Sorry, it just bothers me when people get angry for non-issues. It's like bad reviews on Amazon.
Welp, with the price increase coming, I just went from 250 down to 120 and removed my multi-sports. Will have to get by without some channels but that is what my Roku box and Hulu are for! 
The lifetime hd promo is over.
Next year we may all be charged $10.00 for hd.
I believe the hd promo ended December.
I think now they offer hd free for one year if you sign up for paper less billing.
Dish can end any lifetime offer at any time.
The new HD Free promotion doesn't start until January 17th. The new promotion will allow new customers to get Free HD for 24 months, after that they will pay $10 for it. The customer will still be required to sign up for auto pay and paperless billing to get Free HD for those 24 months. anyone that is receiving HD Free right now will continue getting it for free as long as they continue auto pay and paperless billing.
We are still signing up new customers and doing upgrades to HD for customers and getting them the Free HD promotion quick before the new promotion starts.

what does AT&T have to do with Dish? So since the one local Subway screwed me over 7 years ago I shouldnt go to any fast food/quick serve food places ever?
yeah we know. You said the same thing 2 months ago. When you signed up (now) 23 months ago the rules were
-2 year contract with auto pay and paperless billing to get it for free (which if you did you'd almost be done with contract) OR
-pay a one time $99 fee to get it
you took neither....and now 2 years later you want it? Sorry but it doesnt work that way. Promotions change.
If they are so unreasonable then why did you sign up with AT250 + HD at alacarte rates 2 years ago? You knew the prices then.

Everybody is not against you. You just seem to go "over the top" with your complaining when you dont get your way and then threaten to leave (the site). If Dish is that much of a burden to you and screwing you over then cancel them. Sell the 211K to recoup some money and go on your way.
One reason why I can't leave dish is getting HD free for life . With local cable companies around here they charge for it. Personally I've always thought it was a bs charge . Just to get HD it's an extra charge? It should always be free.
