I am sure the answer to my question is embedded in all these posts. I started reading them and am confusing myself the more I read.

I currently have dish and have the dish 1000 on a metal pole about 20 feet away from the house. The dish is about 6 feet off the ground. There is a 2 coaxes coming from the dish to the house. At this time there is only one being used. There is a single coax with a diplexer running to our dual tuner dvr with another diplexer before it reaches the reciever.

I want the directv HD locals , HD and SD channels for zip code 54703. Will one or two coaxes coming into the house work for this. I plan on having a HDDVR and a regular SD reciever.

Will this work without having to have new cable runs to the house. I would prefer to keep the pole installation and not mount it to the house.

Thanks in advance

I believe the Pole for a +1000 is smaller than what the D* KaKu Slimline is (2"od) If you are getting a HDDVR then chances are high that you would get the Slimline SWMLNB installed which uses 1 line from the dish to a SWM Splitter. Th Diplexers would have to be removed and each box would need a Homerun from the SWM Splitter.

The SVM splitter would be inside the house wouldnt it?

You can get this done with a single cable to the house once DIRECTV figures out what to do about SWM LNBs in cold climates. Now may not be a good time. If you get pushy, they will have to run two more cables to the house.

The pole mount will have to be modified to mount the DIRECTV dish that features a 2" ID mount versus the rest of the North American DBS dishes that use a 1-5/8" ID mount.

Its only the WNC SWM LNB's that are havig issues. Eagle Aspens are fine. The Swm Splitter would be in the house, yes.. or could be where ever it needed to be. So technically with only 2 TV's you could put the Splitter behind the TV that is feeding TV2.

So this wouldnt be to much of a task for a professional install?

Naw even "Bob" running his 1989Ford Escort with 6 ladders on top and a mouth full of chew could do it.
