I wonder if this is even possible....what if the Hopper had a HDMI input where I could plugin a Bluray player and then have that signal distributed to all the other Hoppers and Joeys on the system? It would be a real nice and convient way to share one Bluray player. I don't really have a good place to set a Bluray player other than my living room and would love this. I don't need to be able to conrol the player, just view whatever is playing on it.

no.

1080i exceeds available bandwidth of MoCA . by the time it hits the hdmi cable the decoded output is > 1 gbit/second.

MoCA is (I think) 220 Mbits/second.

this isn't possible and this is before we even talk about the potential issues with DRM that the content providers would hate.

on the other hand letting hopper/Joey play back mkv with h.264 (mpeg4) at bluray rates with raw audio output would be possible. I've tried and it will only work in mkv with mpeg-2

OK, forgive my ignorance but if MoCA can't handle 1080i then how are we getting HD on the Joeys? Am I comparing apples to oranges?

because they are sending the compressed data stream which is less than 20 mbit/second across the network. the Joey has an asic to do the decoding.
