picture in picture, picture in guide

will the directivo units ever do picture in picture or scale the video so we can browse the listings while still watching the program on the screen? Also how do I get the channel logos to appear on the guide like with the non tivo receivers?

Who knows? The DirecTivo might support PIP in the feature-only time will tell.

If you hold your breath on this one it will be right there with HMO and 4.0 All jokes aside even the folks at TCF think the next DirecTV DVR will be an NDS-based product.

will my hd-tivo support mpeg4 or will i have to buy another new receiver? Will I have to buy a new receiver for the picture in picture function?

Because of the TiVo features this isn't all that important. If I want to browse the guide I pause the TiVo and then come back to it after browsing.
