I live in the almost exact middle of three Sprint cell towers. What does this mean? Poor indoor signal. I've been following the testing of the Airave devices that Sprint has been doing and found out that you could get one from retentions this week.

I called up retentions and I couldn't believe it. I was only on the phone for 12 minutes. Free Airave....No monthly service charge...free overnight shipping.

What is the Airave? Basically you hook it up to your router and it makes a small cell phone tower in your home that covers 5000 sq ft. No special phones are required to use the device. From what I hear even Alltel and Verizon can roam on these things if needed. I've had a repeater in my house with a directional panel antenna but it has been hit or miss since I've installed it. I plugged in the Airave to the router and fired it up. Within 20 minutes or so it was done doing its thing. I had FULL signal all across the house and yard. I love this thing!

Can anyone call and get this for free? I've got terrible service at my house and end up roaming most of the time plus my office is on the bottom floor of a building and half of it is underground so I guess I could use two :D

Thanks Digi. I'm gonna call on this. I have the same problem with poor reception in my house.

My parents have the same problem with Verizon. Are you saying that if they had a Sprint Airave, that they could get better Verizon reception w/o roaming charges? (both Sprint and Vz are a problem in their house).

Of course you have to have a Sprint account to get one. But lets say you have no Verizon signal in the house and a Verizon user comes over. Their phone could roam off of this device as their phone would see it as just a typical Sprint tower. Roaming charges would depend on their contract/plan.

Verizon should be out with their device soon. Probably the same one as this one is made my Samsung.

Rave about the airave

Hey guys, I just wanted to chime in here. This Airave is the hottest thing out there right now, it is like having your own little tower in your own house, and at only $100 a pop this is such a deal! I bought one for me and for my mom too and she loves it!

But they are NOT free. Sprint needs to make their money too, and if you are really really sweet to them they may just give you some money off of one, but
to call retention to just try to "con them into giving you one, WILL NOT WORK" !as they have all been warned against the cheapskate shysters out there, telling each other how to rip off a free piece of equipment.

Anyways just wanted to give the Airave a shoutout, and one to Sprint too for coming out with this great piece of machinery for all of the boonie dwellers who live off the beaten path, like me! LOL

have a good weekend all , starlett :eureka

Got mine for free since they didn't have good service in my home. Piece of cake...didn't even have to ask for it being free.

Yep. Right in the war zone from Gustav. Everything is better now that I have power back.

The Airave has been awesome since the towers are overloaded here, calls work everytime from the house over the Airave.
