I just wish GMG would finally refund my damn Arkham Knight purchase. I'm really getting to where I'm going to try to dispute the charge, but I'm a little worried because apparently for some stupid reason they charge your card AT PURCHASE, as opposed to when they actually deliver the product. As a result my Arkham Knight charge is from July 1 2014 when I got it at that cheap price. I'm going to yell at GMG one last time and hope that my tone finally gets stuff done. And before you say "You get more flies with honey than vinegar.."

Didn't you say the card you bought it on is no longer valid? My guess is that is the reason they are having trouble processing your return. You would think they should be able to adjust for that but something is obviously wrong.

I had no problems getting my Witcher 3 pre-order refunded when I ended up getting a free code with a GPU. If I remember correctly it only took a couple hours to process the refund. It did go directly back to the card I purchased it from though.

No I double checked and it's the same card I have now. Even so it's from the same bank. I have records going back to before the card was replaced, so it's all tied to the same "account" so to speak. They mentioned they had encountered an error when trying to do it the first time, but of course they didn't provide specifics. I mean I would be satisfied with a store credit at this point. I'm not hard set on getting the money back, and if doing so would just put this to bed then I'm all for it.

I sent the request out before I was typing this and GMG got back to me. Sure enough, another error trying to refund the money. They asked if store credit was sufficient to resolve this, to which I said yes. Now I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Still is annoying that I had to go through this and WB keeps my money, but GMG has pretty good deals so store credit will definitely be used.

Now if THAT doesn't work, well.. then it's on. ;p

Update: Credits were applied to my account. Go me. I do wonder if they'll still follow through and remove the games from my library. I mean it doesn't really affect me either way as I have separate copies of AA and AC, and I don't see myself going back to AK anytime soon unless I happen to stumble upon great riches and pick up a new PC and want to see the game get schooled by my advanced technology.

The Division Beta starts today. You can get a free beta code by going here:

https://contests.nvidia.com/en-us/the-division-beta-key-giveaway

FYI this may take a while. The site (and the Ubisoft one) was getting hammered so for me to get the whole process done took over an hour, but eventually I got the game added to my library and now it's DLing on my PC at home via preload. Of course, whether or not uPlay is going to be able to handle all the traffic later remains to be seen. At least as of now uPlay isn't having issues sending me the files as its using all my available bandwidth

Edit: The beta itself apparently does NOT start today except for Xbox One users. It starts tomorrow at 7am EST for everyone else. I guess signing up starts today (assuming you didn't preorder.)

I'll see if I can get in too. Maybe we can join up and play some of the beta together.

Happy 20th Birthday, Duke Nukem 3D!

Man, it's weird to think that game is 20 years old.I fondly remember playing the game in middle school on my old Packard Bell tower, which was a BEAST with its 133mhz Pentium processor, 16 MB Ram, and 1 MB Video Ram (I can only drool when I think about how much that cost back then, and what I could buy with that same money now), doing old school 1v1 death matches with my friends over phone modem, and then later playing online over the "Total Entertainment Network." And it was the first (and I believe last) game I actually tried making content for in the form of new maps and custom insult files (this was before voice chat so instead you could send sound file insults which you could customize.) Too bad nearly all the goodwill that game garnered was destroyed when Duke Nukem Forever came out.

PC Gamer did an interview with Cliffy B (Unreal, Gears of War) about his new game Lawbreakers, and asked why there's no single player campaign (and why a number of modern shooters have done away with them as well.) His answer sadly made quite a bit of sense. I think the whole interview is worth watching but if you just want to see that answer skip to 3:54

He made some very good points. Every time I hear a Cliffy B interview he always has some interesting things to say. No matter what you think of him or his games the guy really knows the video game industry.

Star Citizen' solo game will cost you extra after February 14th

http://www.engadget.com/2016/02/01/squadron-42-to-cost-extra/

Right now, pre-ordering Star Citizen gets you both the open, massively multiplayer namesake game and Squadron 42, its recently established single-player counterpart. However, it won't be that good a deal before long. Weeks after announcing the separation of the two games, Cloud Imperium has revealed that Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will officially require separate purchases on February 14th -- yes, they're splitting up on Valentine's Day. From then on, you'll have to buy Squadron 42 either by itself or as an add-on to the title that started it all.

The studio hasn't said exactly how much Squadron 42 will cost at that point, but you currently have to pay $45 for the existing game combo. You may not have to shell out a full $90 to get both titles if you're too late, but don't be surprised if you're paying significantly more.

The move was expected, but it could still rub a lot of players the wrong way. While Star Citizen has always been ambitious, it's clear that this ambition is becoming expensive -- Squadron 42's lavish production values (such as actors Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson) aren't completely covered, it seems. The split could be worthwhile if it leads to richer gameplay, but the higher price will sting if you're a new player.

Steam's most recent client update actually adds some interesting features.

I like the fact that the Steam Link fixes are finally making their way to the general release. I've been running the beta version of the Steam Client since I got my Link because of things like 5.1 audio and NVBFC encoding for better streaming smoothness from SLI systems. These fixes have been in the beta client for months and worked great but for some reason they didn't roll them out to the general release until now.

The beta client had a couple issues though. For example I couldn't launch Downwell when I tried to play it last week. When I hit the play button in Steam nothing would happen. This was directly on my desktop, not on the Steam Link. I took a look at the Steam forum for that game and saw that there was a long thread of people with the same issue. All of us were running the beta Steam Client. Switching back to the general release immediately let me launch the game again. Doing that made me lose the Steam Link fixes though.
