Owens Let go by eagles

I disagree, I think he will get a big contract.
He'll get a decent contract. It won't be huge, but it's not going to be a league minimum as well. Most of it will also be tied up into performance, incentive, or other non-guaranteed money. The guaranteed portions probably will be below average but with a good upswing if he behaves.

There will also be language in the contract about his conduct on and off the field, no matter where he goes.

"Owens' release Tuesday will put him in the spotlight for the next month while he milks the publicity machine to find a new home. Agent Drew Rosenhaus knows T.O.'s market is limited to the Cowboys and Broncos at the start, so he will take a month to build more interest, and that will probably happen.

Owens will go to a new team, and he knows teams can't negotiate too many penalty clauses into his contract. Certainly, it will be hard for him to get a lot of guarantees. Owens isn't a bad guy, but he's all about Owens. That won't change.

But teams know they can't do much financially to discipline him if he acts up, and his chances of acting up under an incentive-laden contract are high. If he doesn't like it, he can try to force a trade or a release.

It's "buyer beware" for the team that gets him; good luck trying to discipline him if he acts up."

i thought dallas got rid of keyshawn to get under the cap, isnt TO worth more $$$ wise?

Thats not how it works exactly, once players are let go they are really worth ZERO and must renegotiate their value upward. Players that are under contract and traded have established market value, but they let Johnson go to have more space under the cap in anticipation of TO possibly costing more and/or getting him cheap along with being able to continue to attract more players.

No the cowboys were way under the cap even before they raised the cap limit. They released Keyshawn because he was going to want way more than what he was scheduled to make this year and would have only counted as 3.5 million against the cap. They could have easily kept him if it were just a numbers thing. But he would have felt underpaid and he wouldnt get along with Owens. http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?id=FA8CA050-E070-AA86-60F4AA9780C8C00C

Owen will keep up to his reputation until something is done. If no teams would sign this prick that might help change his mind a little bit about how he acts. These players make to much money, so it's hard to really punish them unless the owners dig deep into his pockets. Like a fine of about a million or more ought to do it. I know...it will never happen. I give him 3 games or less with Dallas before he runs his mouth about Bill and Drew.

It's official,T.O. is a Cowboy

From www.foxsports.com Owens signed a 3 year,$25 million contract. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus, with salaries of $5 million this year,$8 million in 2007 and $7 million in 2008.I wonder if he will last that long, only time will tell.

I'm not really thrilled about T.O. going to my team... but these are different times from when a team kept players most of their playing days...
I look forward to seeing him spoil many Redskin parties :D
