I did not think it was supposed to work with an OTA network channel, but it did with the Fox Fringe finale recorded last night on channel 59-01. Maybe I missed something.

I've seen people report it as working on OTA before. I never mess with PTAT or AutoHop so I wouldn't know. That's really neat though! Wonder if it's a bug or a feature?

That's funny if Dish is stepping up their game and doing it on locals OTA or sat. Was it CBS by any chance? Lol.

I saw this too when I had a timer set up for a prime time show on one of my ota channels. I was surprised but I liked it. But now I have no real reason to use my ota channels for prime time shows, since the hopper takes care of it all on one tuner.

Personally the difference in PQ between OTA and the sat feeds is so minute that it probably wouldn't factor in at all on my tuner scheduling.

Sat is a little softer, probably due to the 1440x1080, but it's really negligible to my eyes, and I'm very picky.

Better PQ?

I think I remember why I had the original timer set up on ota . My local ota station was showing a program I watch and the same show was not on my sat delivered network. I'm a "mover" and I get the best of both cities that way. Pq was not a factor, though it was in Hd on my ota station .

Maybe it matches the Guide OTA or satellite with the channel for the Hop information, so that it would then work on the OTA channels. Just a WAG.

Yeap, odds are it simply matches by episode #, program name, etc -- things that are common between satellite-delivered shows and OTA shows.

This should be easy to test people ;)

We have PTAT re-enabled again and I also recorded The Simpsons off of the antenna last night. I'll see tonight if it "hops" or not.

I do not use PTAT. From an earlier post, AH is supposed to only work with PTAT.
I'm not certain that AutoHop requires PTAT. I suspect that if one records a program that runs between 8pm and 11pm on the Big 4 networks, that AutoHop will still function. This THREAD is about those same shows, but when recorded off an antenna.

It's been suggested that AutoHop can work on ALL modern DVRs from Dish but that PTAT can't.

On our 2 Hoppers, we have only 2 shows from the Big Four Prime Time scheduled for recording. I just checked the dvr and neither of them have the option to activate the AH feature.

The auto hop icon appears the following day after it records.(1am ish) If the PTAT event has auto hop, it will have a red kangaroo icon displayed on the event in the PTAT folder and once you resume or start over the event, then you would see the auto hop enable message appear.

Interface Upgrade?

Am I ready for Hoppers and Joeys (plus cable internet)?
