Hello,

I currently have two receivers 622 and 722. The 622 no longer records because hard drive failed. Right now 622 split between two TVs and 722 connected to one TV. I also have detached guest house with installed dish and eventually I want to put a TV there. I called dish to replace 622 with the Hopper and 2 Joeys, but wanted to keep 722 so could use in in the guest house, (I know it is overkill). The Dish Rep told me that if I get the Hopper I would need to return both receivers and use 3 Joeys. The Hopper and 2 Joyes in the house and the 3rd Joey in the guest house. Would not mind this, however, the 3rd Joey can only watch a recorded event, or anything that other Joyes watching. I asked if I can get a simple one tuner HD receiver and was told "No". The installer is coming tomorrow. How can I get an additional 211 receiver? Should I just buy one?

Thanks.

Dish is not allowing mixed VIP/Hopper accounts. It's all one or the other.

You could get a second Hopper for the guest house, or go with the 3 joey solution. If it were me I'd pay the extra $100 for a second Hopper now. It won't cost any more monthly than the third Joey and will give extra functionality.

Same here. I have a 922, 612 and 381. I wanted to replace only one of my receivers since I live with 2 other roommates. In order to receive the Hopper I'd have to give back ALL of the receivers on the account even though I only want to replace 1 of the receivers and use the Hopper on 1 TV. I don't even need the Joey. Dish says the Hopper requires 2 TVs to work. Dish pulled this with the 922 when it was released. They tried to say it wouldn't work on 1 TV, but it does.

What, I don't understand is what difference does it make, if I have separate receiver in the guest house. The guest house has a separate Dish with cables already installed. Running the cable from the house dish to the guest house just require more work. I am even willing to pay extra receiver fees.

Maybe Maryb@DishNetwork can answer since she like the reply.

Its a business decision no hoppers/Joeys on the same account as any other receiver. If you want mixed you would need two accounts.
