Olympic Boxing

I've seen nearly every fight they've had on CNBC. Some were very good fights, but most just so-so.

I'll keep watching them until the Olympics are over because I enjoy boxing in all its forms. The Olympics scoring, poor judges and poor referees do detract from it a bit.

Well, none of the men could seem to get a medal in boxing, but a couple of the women did.

Gold went to Claressa Shields and she well deserved it. This young 17 year old high school senior from Flint Michigan really brought it. I watched 2 of her fights and she was just a butt-kicker and name taker. I'm out of town now and won't see her Gold Medal winning bout until I return home.

Another young lady from the US won a Bronze.

The women came through this year in boxing. Hopefully next Olympics, with some of the changes, will produce some better fights, more even scoring and some much better officiating overall.

Reminder: Olympic soccer starts on Weds. July 25

Is Michael Phelps the greatest Olympian ever?
