NHL 2007-08 Season

What the heck is going on with the Wings?! I've watched each of the last 4 pathetic performances, and these guys just look terrible. Hopefully this is just a mid-season lull and they get some fire back before the playoffs start. I'm going to Wings-Jackets game at the Joe on Friday, so I am really hoping that they're able to snap this losing streak.

I wouldn't get too worried, they could lose for the rest of the month, and they still would be in first. If the playoffs were starting this weekend, I would be concerned, but they're not. Just a small slide in the dog - days of the season.

If you look over the last 10-15 years, this is typical a mid season lack of interest.
Once it gets closer to April they will hopefully be rounded into shape.

Still, the team hasn't been the same "The Captain" retired. They don't seem to have the same spark they once had.

Before the slide they were on pace to beat the points record, the Captain's team held. Maybe you need to define the "spark", you're talking about.

It figures that the game I attended on Friday was probably the worst performance by the Wings that I have ever seen... They played much better on defense yesterday against Dallas, but the offense is still anemic. I read that they've only scored 1 even strength goal in the past 4 games! That is just pathetic.

Now the Sharks are on a 5 game tailspin and looking pathetic. The only cup my Sharks will see this year is the one you pee in at the doctors office.

Blue Jackets over Red Wings in the playoffs !!!!

Red Wings have played uninspired hpckey for some time now AND made NO trades at the deadline ( They DID get Darren McCarty back, prior to the deadline).
What was Kenny Holland thinking this time.

They could have went after Hossa, Richards ect, what happened to the Rob Blake rumors, that fell thru too.

What about the defenseman Stuart they picked up yesterday, (from LA for a couple of draft picks)? Jumping ship already Jimbo? The Wings will be fine as soon as they're healthy again. Cleary, Lindstrom, Kronwall, and a couple of others are all out as of late. Shame on you!

The other big injury you didn't mention Paul is Rafalski. So their top 3 defensemen are out of the lineup! Their young guys have actuallly stepped up and played pretty well. It's Lebda and Lilja who have been playing like crap (Lilja cost them the game last night with a boneheaded delay of game penalty with under 2 minutes to play). The addition of Stuart should help quite a bit in the coming weeks.

Things just haven't gone their way lately. How do Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hudler all fail to score in a shootout last night??? Earlier in the year, you could usually count on 2 of the 3 to hit the back of the net. Hopefully they'll snap out of this slump and be ready for the playoffs.

Not jumping ship at all, the Wings have a lot of injuries as they do every year.
Counting on all the injuries to be healed and playing back at normal levels are not practical.

Don't get me wrong, they will snap out of it eventually and play better.
Where I came up with my statement is the fact that over the past 10 years they have lost to teams they are clearly better than in the playoffs.
Normally they lose due to a lack of scoring ....
Yzerman , Shanny and Hull are all gone ...
Zeterberg is the real thing, Datsuk STILL can't play in the playoffs, when he gets hit hard, he quits playing his game.
I don't see the others picking it up in the playoffs any more than they have in the receint past.

The defense is very young and very old at the same time.

Then again, they could get on a roll like last year and make a long run in the playoffs .... unfortunatley April is a long ways off.

The Jackets have to worrry about making the playoffs first. They have not been doing very well since the all star break. As of today they are 5 points out of the playoffs.

You're right, they're gone. Get over it. :D The new guys are pretty good too. For the record Datsyuk played very well in last years playoffs.
