Man, when did Jesse Jackson go from someone you wanted to listen to, to someone who just doesn't get it.

Collusion claim surfaces in Vick case | ProFootballTalk.com

"I want to make it an issue," Jackson told Rhoden, leaving us to wonder whether Rhoden raised the issue with Jackson or vice-versa. "I want teams to explain why they have a quarterback who has less skills but is playing or at least is on the taxi squad, and a guy with more skills can't get into training camp."

I'm going to go with PR NIGHTMARES for $2.50 Alex.

Yeah, ain't that the truth. I wonder if he has been hiding under a rock IN a cave IN the mountains of Afghanistan.....

Don't get me wrong, regardless of what people think, he paid his debt to society and either had naked pics of Goddell or did one whale of a slaes job to convince the NFL to let him back in....but THIS from Jesse Jackson is THE LAST THING he needs! I would tell Jesse Jackson, "I can do by myself, I don't need your help....."

Looks like Michael Vick is doing his part:

Vick at event in Atlanta suburbs

DECATUR, Ga. -- Michael Vick has arrived at a suburban Atlanta community center where he was scheduled to discuss how to deal with potentially violent dogs with inner-city youth.

The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback entered the New Life Community Center through a back entrance Saturday for an event put on by the Humane Society of the United States.

However, several members of the community were barred from entering the building. The humane society also refused to allow The Associated Press to enter.

Few teams in the NFL have expressed interest in signing Vick, who has been conditionally reinstated by the league after completing a 23-month federal sentence for running a dogfighting ring. Vick has been trying to bolster his image since his release.

Tony Dungy was on the Sunday Night Football broadcast (HOF Game) last night and said during an interview that he believed Vick will sign with an NFL team within a week or so. Take it for what it's worth, but Dungy is Vick's official league mentor.

Because of the respect the NFL and other organizations have for Tony Dungy, that is why things are going so well for Vick. IF it weren't for Dungy, Vick would not be able to BUY a ticket in an NFL stadium...much less play in one. Dungy's reputation is greatly at stake....but he is a smart man.

This is Tony's first year out of football and it would seem to maybe to be one of the first times he has had enough free time to think about his son who passed away (committed suicide I think) a few years ago. I wonder if this is Tony's way of helping a troubled young man with his life, to make a fresh start, and to get him on the road to being a productive member of society as a way to grieve and to help in his son's memory. Some have looked for a reason why Tony would do this. Maybe that is part of the reason.

:up:up Excellent post.

Vick drawing interest

At least five NFL teams have quietly shown interest in signing Michael Vick, The Washington Post reported, citing several people familiar with the deliberations.

"I don't know where he's gonna end up ... I can't tell you which teams, but I know there's at least five," a person familiar with the situation said on condition of anonymity, the newspaper reported.

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, who is now serving as Vick's adviser, said on a nationally televised preseason game Sunday that Vick has spoken with several NFL teams and that he believes Vick will be signed before training camp ends.

60 Minutes will have the ONLY interview with him this Sunday. Also to be interviewed is Tony Dungy and Goodell. It should VERY interesting.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to set the DVR for that one. :up (Should be on right after the conclusion of Sunday's PGA Championship!)

I guess all those list that popped up on the internet about what teams DIDN'T want Michael Vick were bogus or 'premature speculation' on most people's(mostly NON-FOOTBALL people) parts.

On Sunday, Dungy told a national TV audience watching the Hall of Fame Game that "I've talked to quite a few coaches who want to get my thoughts on where [Vick] is." Tuesday on "Mike and Mike in the Morning," Dungy elaborated, explaining that he'd been fielding Vick inquiries from his former coaching colleagues since he, at Goodell's request, became Vick's mentor.

"A lot of people then began to call me. And I got calls from a lot of coaches and most of the coaches said 'Hey, tell me about it, if I wanted to sign this guy, I would want to look in his eyes and find out if anything's different -- give me that feel," Dungy told "Mike and Mike."

"And I did I recommend [Vick] to maybe a dozen guys," Dungy added. "I think he has changed as a person. I think he recognizes what he did and the lifestyle that he had wasn't conducive to not only playing well, but it was detrimental to a lot of young people. I think he had about 18 months to think about that." Dungy told "Mike and Mike" the terms of Vick's conditional reinstatement could help him get on a team right away, but allow him to work his way back from two years away from the game.

Vick still doesnt get it.....

Vick talks with kids in surprise visit to HU hoops camp -- dailypress.com

"Use me as an example for your dreams," the HU site quotes Vick as saying. "I accomplished all of my goals, but then I allowed someone who didn't have my best interests at heart take all that away for me."

No one did this TO him. He did it himself. Its ashame the man still hasnt learned a thing. Dungy has a LOT of work to do.

Funny, those poor innocent creatures he mulilated said the same thing..."I allowed someone who didn't have my best interests at heart take all that away for me".

.... Only the dogs didn't have a choice. Vick did. I can never root for that creep. I hope he burns one day!

Except that we can't pretend to know how his relationships are with the people he knows or has known for a long time. It's been said before that this was one of those cases of people not severing their ties with the thugs/poor influences they had in their life when they were given the privlidge of playing in the NFL.

It doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean it excuses him of any actions, but you'd have more of a point if he was going and chilling with all of his former dog-killing friends. No idea if he is (or isn't) though I'd suspect the latter.

His point is that you can be successful, but dont let the entourage that you feel you need/deserve leech off of your celebrity MC Hammer style (the guy had like 1000+ employees at one point.... mostly friends just drawing a paycheck for doing whatever... similar situation, just more legal). The message is sound... use good judgement or pay for it.

Simplifying it just to hate on him is just spreading baseless hate and not really taking any position but to hate him.

As true as everything is that you said, it's still bothersome for Vick to be pointing fingers, at his friends or anyone, especially when talking to kids. You would like to think Vick's message would be 'I made a mistake, I was wrong, and now I'm trying to make up for it', instead of telling kids how it wasn't all his fault.

Ex-QB Vick Arrives In Chicago; Bear Rumors Swirl
CHICAGO (CBS) ?

Michael Vick was in Chicago today, prompting wild speculation that he was here to talk with the Bears about a job.

Vick, an uber-talented quarterback who was recently released from prison after serving time for a dog-fighting conviction, was spotted at the airport yesterday by TMZ.com.

That prompoted the obvious question: What was he doing here?

NBC Chicago speculated: "If Vick's appearance at O'Hare Airport Tuesday night -- captured by the web site that apparently follows Vick around 24/7, TMZ -- is any indication, Vick could be meeting with the Bears about a potential spot."

The Chicago Tribune reported: "Disgraced ex-Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick was spotted at O'Hare International Airport on Tuesday. But Chicago Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said today the former quarterback's arrival had nothing to do with the Bears."

So, what was the reason for Vick's visit? CBS 2 Jim Williams caught up with Vick and will have that story tonight at 10.
