NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Could see some drama in the next 24 hours, teams are able to take RFA tenders off the table and only offer players 110% of their previous years salaries... in some players cases this is millions less than the RFA tender they've been balking at for the last couple months.

A bunch should sign or have signed, will be interesting to see which teams play hardball with some of their RFAs though, it's an optional process. Miles Austin I believed signed today, Elvis Dumervil was said to be about to sign his, the Browns have told all of their RFAs that they'll likely have their RFAs reduced, the Chargers have WR Vincent Jackson and LT Marcus McNeil holding out for contracts, among others.

Miles may have signed, but he's not happy regardless.
Asked for a trade earlier club want him to stay and be productive.
It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah, same level offense as a speeding ticket... there's a video though apparently of him throwing the first punch, and it was someone taunting him about college football. What an idiot, but I'm not sure he'll miss any time for it. We'll see though.

Giants have lost WR Hixon for the season already due to a torn ACL via the new turf at the new Stadium.

Haynesworth just a year after signing his $100m contract doesnt want to play DT in a 3-4 and has told the Redskins to shove it, and is holding out of mandatory camp. The Redskins are prepared to go after $21m of the $30m they've already paid him. The NFLPA told him that money is safe before he started the rhetoric.

Good, bench the brat ..... and any others like him.
He got a gazzilion dollars last year to play there, now they change things around a bit and he doesn't want to play ..... what next, is he gonna take him ball home with him so no one can practice ?

They're not going to bench him, they're going to setup discipline so that he voilates it, then he can be released and they can go recoup losses. There's already a report he's preparing to go to training camp so that it doesn't become an open and closed case of a player not sticking to their contract, but is holding out of mandatory camp for now.

Titans first round pick Derrick Morgan was arrested for going 91 in a 70 and driving on a suspended license.

Between this, Vince Young starting fights, and Chris Johnson saying 'show me the money', Titans are having an eventful offseason.

Jamarcus Russell rumored to be possibly signing with the UFL Omaha Nighthawks, the team that Ahman Green is on.

With Culpepper playing for Sacramento, this would put 2 former one time Raider QBs in the UFL.

If it were ME, I bench him for the first game regardless.

So kinda bad timing to be begging for big money with the Haynesworth situation, but check out this tweet from Adam Schefter tonight.

In an E60 interview, Titans RB Chris Johnson told @MrMichael_Smith he wants $30-$40 million guaranteed. More tonight on NFL Live @ 12:30 am.

Chris Johnson is only due to make like $500k next year and has 3 years left on his rookie contract.

Chargers RFAs WR Vincent Jackson and OT Marcus Mcneill still have not signed their tenders, Chargers are said to be preparing for life without them next season if they holdout.

The two players do not plan to report for the start of training camp and quite possibly well beyond, league sources have told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Union-Tribune is reporting that the two players plan to hold out until after Week 10 of the 2010 season unless they receive long-term deals or are traded.

Jackson and McNeill need to play six weeks to get credit for an accrued season.

As a result of not signing their tenders, the Chargers have cut McNeill's salary from $3.168 million to $583,000 and Jackson's salary from $3.268 million to $600,000.

The 26-year-old McNeill is a two-time Pro Bowl left tackle, in charge of protecting quarterback Philip Rivers' blindside.

The 27-year-old Jackson has had two straight seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards and has led the league in each of those years in average yards per catch.

The Chargers have prepared for Jackson's and McNeill's absences, signing wide receiver Josh Reed and offensive tackle Tra Thomas this month.

Chris Johnson's situation is interesting, he signed a contract and doesn't want to fulfill it, tell him to get in line with the others.

If thats the way these highly overpaid players want to be, there should be NO security in a long term contract they all want and play year to year, 1 year contracts.

Yes I agree he should be paid more than the 500k he signed for, if the Titans wanted to be nice about it, they could compensate him if they wanted to.

I think CJ is a good case for a rookie cap. Shorter contracts or automatic accelerations based on performance. He's a Darren McFadden though, a RB that needs speed, all it takes is poor line play and he cant muscle out more yardage, Reggie Bush is kind of like that too.

If he doesn't get his money now, he won't see it, because of how quickly RBs break down. He should be getting a $20m payday, but Titans appear prepared to play hardball. If he has another 2k season, they aren't going to pay him for 2 good seasons he already had as he starts to decline.

Richard Seymour signed his franchise tender, leaving just the Rookies to sign for the Raiders. He'll make $12.398 million guaranteed next season.

The Raiders are reportedly one of the likely homes for Albert Haynesworth who will almost certainly be traded, per ESPN.com.

Man, the raiders are quickly becoming a scary team.
Now only if they had a really good receiver and a good QB....Oh man.

There is finally some stability in the franchise. The Raiders young receiving core will be alot better than people think this year and Jason Campbell is a good QB and a HUGE upgrade over Russell.....I have a very good feeling about this team. I definately think they will be a .500 team....with a a few lucky breaks, they may even be a playoff team...
