NO CONTRACT DISPUTE.

To quote McDaniels himself - Krieger: It's time to show Elvis the money - The Denver Post

Asked about Dumervil's contract status at his predraft news conference, this is what McDaniels said:

"I know that is a frustrating situation for all of us. We are looking at a place right now in the league where there is some uncertainty for us going forward. I think that is holding up some things on a lot of teams and in a lot of organizations. I think that is part of the whole entire thing.

"We are thrilled with Elvis Dumervil's season last year and excited to have him back and looking forward to his production continuing on for years. As of right now, I know he is working hard in Miami, he stays in touch with Wink (defensive coordinator Don Martindale) and I think we will all be excited when he is back. It is what it is, and other than that, there isn't much to talk about."

It's a contract dispute. He signed a medical waiver to participate in offseason on the field stuff because he's a good guy. Or are you going to argue semantics? If so feel free to find another article that says there's no dispute - [ame=http://www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&q=elvis+dumervil+dispute&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=]elvis dumervil dispute - Google Search[/ame]

The " frustrating situation for all of us" is referring to "a place right now in the league where there is some uncertainty for us going forward", which is the CBA situation and possible lockout. Has nothing to do with Dumervil.

He is not the only RFA in this situation in the NFL, there are many right now.

Find an article that says there IS a contract dispute, from a reputable source, that is not made up by a writer. You are the one who said "contract dispute", NO ONE in the Broncos organization, not even Dumervil, or more importantly, his agent..

So, I am to assume you are an alien if no one writes an article saying you are not???

Basically what you are saying, is that any time there is a contract negotiation between a player and a team, it is a "contract dispute".....right?

McDaniels says star pass rusher "deserves" to get big contract

Coach Josh McDaniels says he wants Elvis Dumervil to be "a Bronco for a long time." (John Leyba, The Denver Post )

"Pay the man!" people scream.

"Show Elvis the money!" shout the headlines.

The Broncos feel the pressure. And they love Elvis Dumervil. They appreciate the NFL-leading 17 sacks he produced last season. They are even willing to pay him big money.

It's just that paying Dumervil his market value means committing $65 million to $85 million in total contract, with guarantees around $40 million.

Even if this is nothing more than the cost of doing NFL business with an elite player at a premium position, excuse the Broncos while they gulp.

For a team that doesn't have much practice paying enormous money to any one player, the Broncos are not exactly rushing through negotiations with Dumervil.

"Nothing imminent," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said. "But we're working together on the thing to make sure he's a Bronco for a long time. He deserves it."

At least the two sides have been negotiating.
Which is why Dumervil, despite not having a signed contract, participated Monday in the Broncos' opening session of their voluntary organized team activity at the team's Dove Valley headquarters.

"I feel like both parties want to get something done," Dumervil said.

Before the workout, Dumervil signed an injury protection waiver. Thus if he gets hurt, he still could be entitled to the $3.168 million salary he was tendered in March as a restricted free agent.

If all goes well for Dumervil in negotiations, that $3.168 million could increase nearly 25 times in total contract value, based on deals other premier pass rushers have received.

"We're going to focus on the contract while Elvis and the Broncos focus on 2010," said Gary Wichard, Dumervil's agent. "We're hopeful everything will work out very positively in the next several weeks and see if we can get something done."

It would be easier if the Broncos were asked to pay, say, Brian Dawkins. As a veteran safety, his average annual salary is

The NFL's four highest-paid positions are more closely related to the passing game — quarterback, pass rusher, cornerback and left tackle.

Dumervil, as the NFL's reigning sack champion, is in position to join a considerably higher tax bracket.

Only two players have more sacks than Dumervil's 43 since he was drafted four years ago — Dallas' DeMarcus Ware (56 1/2) and Minnesota's Jared Allen (52). Last year, Ware received a $79 million contract with $40 million guaranteed; two years ago, Allen got a $72.26 million deal with $31 million guaranteed.

Other pass rushers who recently received rich contracts despite falling short of matching Dumervil's sack production in 2009 are Julius Peppers ($84 million contract, $42 million guaranteed) and Terrell Suggs ($62.5 million deal, $38 million guaranteed).

Report: Elvis Dumervil Reports To Camp, Signs Injury Waiver

The Denver Broncos, for now, are avoiding another contract dispute involving one of the team's best players.

According to the Associated Press and Rotoworld.com, Elvis Dumervil, one of the NFL's best pass rushers, signed an injury waiver on Monday.

Reports loomed that Dumervil signed a tender worth about $3.17 million, but as of now that is untrue.

Both sides are currently working on a deal, and one is expected to get done sometime within the next month.

However, Dumervil will report to OTA's this week.

It all ends well for Broncos fans. Elvis has said he wants to stay with Denver, and at some point a long-term contract will be reached that will make both sides happy.

The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance against former quarterback JaMarcus Russell(notes) seeking repayment of $9.55 million, the team confirmed Thursday.

The grievance is based on the contention by the Raiders that the contract was changed at one point during Russell's three-year stint with the organization and that he's not allowed to keep all of the money he had collected prior to his May 7 release. Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft, was guaranteed $32 million as part of a six-year contract reportedly worth $68 million.

I don't know....from the same article...

Part of the guaranteed $32 million was originally in the form of salary advances for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. A portion of those salaries is in question, according to the grievance...

LOL yeah according to the grievance...it's AL's grievance! In fact, he should change his name to Al Grievance! Is there anyone who leaves the Raiders and DOESN'T get sued?

Maybe not sued, but Al doesn't pay up what they are owed either!! Until he gets sued.

Aye.

Raiders don't have a case unless there was discipline involved that could bring contracted money into question. I am not aware of any, you can't simply cut a player than file to have the rest of their guaranteed money revoked unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Not saying the Raiders/Al Davis is/was in the right....but remember, there are times that alot of the disciplinary stuff happens behind closed doors that many folks do not know about.

Yeah like when they gave the guy a dvd of game film to watch, asked him if he checked it out, he said that he did.....problem was that it was blank.

This year's Eric Mangini fundamentals camp for kids is this Saturday 6/5, again in Hartford, CT. I'll be there as a volunteer field official for the afternoon's 7-on-7 competitions.

I wonder if he has changed the mode of transportation for his players that will be attending?? Last year coach made them take a bus while he flew to CT.....

Welker on Field for OTA's?!

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The story of the day as the New England Patriots took part in organized team activities Wednesday was the presence of receiver Wes Welker on the practice field.

Welker, who is recovering from February surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, wore a brace over the knee and took part in drills early in the session. Welker was seen running routes at about 75 percent speed as the practice was held at high tempo but was not at a full-speed pace..
