NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

So I've never bet on a football game or made any kind of bet really in the 31 years I've lived in Las Vegas... the preliminary lines kinda make me want to. Here's the total games won at the Venetian for the 2011 season:

Indianapolis Colts 11
San Diego Chargers 10.5
New Orleans Saints 10.5
Dallas Cowboys 10
New York Jets 9.5
New England Patriots 9.5
Minnesota Vikings 9
Baltimore Ravens 9
San Francisco 49ers 9
Green Bay Packers 9
Philadelphia Eagles 8.5
New York Giants 8.5
Houston Texans 8.5
Tennessee Titans 8.5
Atlanta Falcons 8
Pittsburgh Steelers 8
Cincinnati Bengals 8
Miami Dolphins 8
Chicago Bears 7.5
Carolina Panthers 7.5
Washington Redskins 7.5
Arizona Cardinals 7.5
Jacksonville Jaguars 7.5
Denver Broncos 7
Seattle Seahawks 7
Kansas City Chiefs 6
Buffalo Bills 5.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5.5
Oakland Raiders 5.5
Detroit Lions 5.5
Cleveland Browns 5
St. Louis Rams 5

Chiefs and Raiders over looks like a really easy bet to make.

Mark me down for the OVER.

Call me crazy :D but I like the lions and the over myself (six wins)

Final thoughts of the JaMarcus Russell debacle:

I have VERY mixed emotion....

-Physical tools....the guy was completely there as much as any QB in the last 10-15 years

-Mental Tools..??!! Oh boy, the guy was completely GONE as any QB in the last 15 years

-In all fairness, he got a crappy deal....3 offensive coordinators, 2 head coaches, inexperienced WR and terrible, often injured offensive live. BUT, our NEW QB, Jason Campbell...has gone through the EXACT SAME THING...and has improved on his stats every single year. So THAT PITTY is gone! LOL!

- I think they main reason they cut him was because he refused to re-structure his contract...the Raiders were NOT gonna pay him over $9 million.

The ONLY good thing that happened was that when you screw-up BADLY with a QB, it can set your franchise back ATLEAST 3-5 years! BUT, seeing that Raiders franchise was already screwed up, it will not get any lower than it has been. THEN this year, they actually played smart in the draft, did NOT over pay in the free agent pool and hired some VERY GOOD football people.

Yep, I see very little negative and ALOT of positive with the Raider franchise.:up

OH, yeah...by cutting JaMarcus, this makes Lane Kiffin COMPLETELY right. He wanted NO PART of Russell....and wanted Calvin Johnson and get a free agent QB like a YOUNGER Jeff Garcia.

And now replaces Ryan Leaf as the biggest NFL draft bust ever.

Hmmmm.... maybe too early to make that call. Jim Plunkett was a #1, that didn't find success until his 8th or 9th season, and his 3rd team. Won 2 SB's with Oakland. Ryan Leaf was out of the league in a hurry. Russell may still find success elsewhere. Some kids just need to grow up a little, mentally. Oakland may be equally at fault here.

Hey Pauly.....good to see.

The ONLY reason Russell is the biggest flop so far is because of his contract. THIS is the reason there eventually HAS to be some kind of rookie salary cap. AND, Russell is young, he still has a chance to do SOMETHING in a QB capacity in the NFL.

But I don't know...what is the going rate to hold clipboards all season...?

Yes, the Raiders DO have some fault for his lack of development.

I think this will be way under.

Bills could be the worst team in the NFL this year.

pretty much agree with you here :up . The raiders made some of the best moves i've seen in awhile. wonder who Al is listening too? some are calling russell the biggest bust ever. i still can't put him over Ryan Leaf. To me Leaf was the biggest bust ever. Russell might come in second especially because he was the #1 overall draft pick. and that 39 mill should've been sent to me!!! might as well since i could've done the same thing russell did in oakland. hell, throwing that money in a dumpster would've been the same.:D. If I had his talent, you couldn't get me off the football field. what a waste.....................

No shock here.

I knew Jim Plunkett. Jim Plunkett was my friend, and Jamarcus Russell is no Jim Plunkett. No one ever accused Plunkett of lacking a solid work ethic or alienating his teammates.

Plunkett (why is he not in the HoF?) played in about 100 games before he ever got to the Raiders. Ryan Leaf played less than 30 games total. His incompetence (like Russell's) was immediately apparent. He took a team that had been to the Super Bowl two years before into the cellar, and cost Bobby Beathard his GM job.

On the bright side, the Bolts then brought in Buffalo GM John Butler, the architect of the Bills' four Super Bowl runs. Butler (RIP) drafted Drew Brees and LT, and turned the team around quickly.

The bigger issue with it is that the NFL drug stuff remains confidential, and Cushing can say whatever he wants. He said he hasn't taken a steroid, and the NFL can't realease any information saying what it was he tested positive for.

So now people get to re-vote, with just what they've gleaned from all of the reports of him using and testing positive (in September I think) and with stuff like this out there and him having been found testing positive for something banned:
