NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Steelers WR Sweed may have ruptured his achilles in the final session of camp this morning, if this is confirmed to be as bad as it sounds, he'll miss the 2010 season.

He was 5 minutes from being cut earlier in the off season anyways.
He has NOT improved the was many thought he would have either.

WHAAAAAA..................???!!!!!!!

JaMarcus lit it up the other day in practice. He completed 21-25 passes and by most accounts looked like the best quarterback on the field. He showed a hustle and desire he's always seemed to lack and a willingness to work and learn. Oh, by the way, he also showed up in shape!

I do think Dez Bryant landed in a good situation.

Instead of possibly laying with a so-so QB, he gets to play with a capable signal-caller in Romo.

I have a feeling a lot of teams are going to look silly for passing up on him.

Look at Randy Moss- all the teams that passed him up. Last I checked, he's become a decent player.

It's kinda sad when expectations have sunk so low that there is excitement when he does something he was supposed to have done all along....

I think that expectation are more based on the salary than the skill. I mean NOBODY has proven anything from the draft in the NFL....until, they play an NFL game...and played it well!

There HAS to be a salary cap for NFL rookies. I mean teams are now afraid to have a top 5 pick because of the money they will be paying for one of those picks.

From a first overall pick I would think you would hope to get a player who shows up prepared, in shape, and shows improvement from year to year. No matter what the position. The amount of money only amplifies the reaction when a player such as Russell fails on all counts...

I wholeheartedly agree with a change in the rookie wage scale. I haven't heard if that is being considered in the next labor agreement or not.

Can't wait to see what Salsa has to say on Russell released.

(I assume it will include the words 'good' and 'riddance.')

what we all have been saying the last two years  nothing new......... we'll see if FAT NECK still wants to give the NFL a shot or if he's content with his 39 mil

So I've never bet on a football game or made any kind of bet really in the 31 years I've lived in Las Vegas... the preliminary lines kinda make me want to. Here's the total games won at the Venetian for the 2011 season:

San Diego Chargers 10.5
New Orleans Saints 10.5
Dallas Cowboys 10
New York Jets 9.5
New England Patriots 9.5
Minnesota Vikings 9
Baltimore Ravens 9
San Francisco 49ers 9
Green Bay Packers 9
Philadelphia Eagles 8.5
New York Giants 8.5
Houston Texans 8.5
Tennessee Titans 8.5
Atlanta Falcons 8
Pittsburgh Steelers 8
Cincinnati Bengals 8
Miami Dolphins 8
Chicago Bears 7.5
Carolina Panthers 7.5
Washington Redskins 7.5
Arizona Cardinals 7.5
Jacksonville Jaguars 7.5
Denver Broncos 7
Seattle Seahawks 7
Kansas City Chiefs 6
Buffalo Bills 5.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5.5
