NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

And how much do you weigh when you did that? And how old were when you did? And did you have to just do them or did you have to do them in a certain time frame?

270ish. I think it was 1:50 for lineman and 5 minutes in between set. You failed, you spent an hour after practice that week with the S&C coach.

We were not anywhere close to being an NFL program, but that test is not as hard as what the media is making it out to be.

And you weren't doing it for a $100 million contract. ;)

IF I am not mistaken, they have 70-75 seconds to do the the 300s and have 3 minutes rest inbetween..

...interesting...

Dan Steinberg of the DC Sports Bog makes the key point about the Albert Haynesworth(notes)-Mike Shanahan conditioning stand-off:

- If you had any interest in not making this a distraction, wouldn't there be other approaches than public shame? I mean, you could construct Haynesworth's image out of neon toothpicks in the Redskins Park driveway without creating a bigger distraction than this conditioning test has been. -

The Haynesworth saga has been the biggest news in the NFL over the past week. At the time of this post's writing (11:30 a.m. ET on Monday), the news that Haynesworth didn't take the test again on Monday morning is the No. 3 story in the headlines section of Yahoo! Sports, No. 2 on ESPN and is tops on NFL.com. It seems like "SportsCenter" provides more updates on Haynesworth doing shuttle runs than they do with all other NFL news combined. And, again, all this attention is for news that there's no news. Message or not, this can't be what Mike Shanahan had in mind.

There was always going to be a tipping point with these conditioning tests in which the pursuit of control turned into a disastrous farce. It probably came over the weekend. Shanahan wasn't wrong in trying to assert his and the coaching staff's power over Haynesworth, but now that the defensive end can't (or won't) pass the test, Shanahan has lost what he seeked the most: control.

This is all out of Shanahan's hands. He can't give in or make the test easier for his All-Pro or quiet the swarming media about the shuttle-run debacle. All the new Washington Redskins coach can do is wait for and rely on Albert Haynesworth to come through, pretty much the exact opposite of what this whole thing was supposed to accomplish.

At what point does Shanahan's Hanyesworth-shaming backfire? - Shutdown Corner - NFL  - Yahoo! Sports

Bills have released LB Aaron Schobel, who was threatening to retire if he was not released or traded.

Skins have cut QB Colt Brennan after trading for QB John Beck from the Ravens in exchange for CB Doug Ditch (can you imagine growing up with that name... middle initial "A" would be awesome).

If any of you listen to Mike & Mike in the morning, Golic ran the same test Haynesworth is running and guess what? He passed! This, a man who is a retired NFL Defensive Tackle himself. Way past his playing days and not in NFL game-day shape. He ran in a field with tall grass (not on a perfectly groomed NFL field) and with cleats that were 10 years old!

Wow. Guess this should put the kabosh on all those who are coddling Fat Albert, huh? :D

I had heard that Golic was going to run, I missed the beginning of the show this morning, did they show footage ?
Will GM 's be calling Golic for help this year ?:):D

Edit: Just saw the video of Golic running the test.
His legs were tying up, but seeing he hasn't practiced or been in ANY type of shape, I'd say he did very well.

BTW, He DID pass the test.

AP has reported that Haynesworth did not pass the test again today.
I don't think he even tried, more than likely his knee is still causing him trouble.

Then again, a knee issue with a guy that BIG would take a lot longer than for me to have mine back in shape, that is if the knee issue really IS the issue.

IF the knee really is the issue, the trainers and medical staff would not let him on the field for X amount of days regardless. And you would have thought they would have said so from the beginning ....... I'm thinking the knee is an excuse, although I don't know that for sure.

I DO Know that most time the knee starts having issues, it is common to be out for 3-10 days, depending how bad it is.
