MOBILE, Ala. (Jan. 18) -- The 2006 Senior Bowl will receive more national television coverage than ever before, as over six hours of live and taped coverage of its practice sessions will air on NFL Network during Senior Bowl Week, Jan. 23-28, 2006.
NFL Network's coverage will air from 4-5:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 23, and from 3-4:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Wednesday of Senior Bowl Week. NFL Network will also air a nightly half-hour Senior Bowl Practice Review show at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday through Wednesday of the week.
"The Senior Bowl is a terrific event for NFL Network," said Katie Boes, senior director of programming for NFL Network. "We are committed to helping this event grow and prosper for years to come."
A Senior Bowl postgame wrap-up will also air on NFL Network as part of its signature show NFL Total Access at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Draft expert Mike Mayock will provide analysis for the practice shows on NFL Network, and will be joined by former NFL executive Pat Kirwan, a regular contributor for the network and NFL.com, and host Michael Barkann.
Coverage will provide in-depth analysis of the practice sessions, as well as interviews with participating players and NFL coaches.
The Senior Bowl is the nation's premier pre-draft showcase, annually featuring the top senior NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South which are coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.
Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and his staff will coach this year's North team, while San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan and his staff will coach the South squad.
Senior Bowl practices are also attended by over 700 NFL general managers, head coaches, scouts and other front office personnel each year.
In 2005, 10 Senior Bowlers were chosen in the first round of the NFL draft and 83 players were drafted overall. Ninety-five percent of last year's Senior Bowl players made active rosters in the NFL in 2005, including the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year -- running back Cadillac Williams of Tampa Bay.
Over 560 former Senior Bowl players were on active rosters in the NFL in 2005. Twenty-six former Senior Bowlers were named to rosters for this year's NFL Pro Bowl game including the league's MVP, running back Shaun Alexander of the Seahawks, and Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year.
The 2006 Senior Bowl will kickoff at 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 28.
The Senior Bowl is also a non-profit, charity event that, together with its charitable partner Food World, distributed over $1.2 million to charities in 2005.
Launched in November of 2003, NFL Network is fully-owned and operated by the National Football League, offering year-round, 24-hour programming devoted solely to the sport of football.
NFL Network is currently available to 65 million U.S. homes via satellite service such as DirecTV and the Dish Network, as well as through the nation's top cable operators including Comcast, Cox and Adelphia.
NFL Network currently airs over 1,500 hours of original programming each year including the network's signature show, NFL Total Access. Hosted by veteran sportscaster Rich Eisen, it is the NFL's show of record and the only year-round show dedicated to the NFL and airs at 7 p.m. ET every Monday through Saturday.
