For old-times sake, I'd love to see the Patriots wear these unis one more time as a throwback:

Whenever I see these uniforms I think of one thing: Drew Bledsoe to Ben Coates. Good times!! :)

I miss the colored face masks. That was the trend years ago.The Colts had blue, the Bills had red,Dolphins aqua, etc.Made the helmets stand out more. Not sure why they moved away from them.

Did anyone notice that the Lions lost to the Packers in GB this past week ?

Whats significant about that you say ?

The Lions have lost in GB for the 22nd straight time.

Gooddell is ruining the NFL
16 playoff teams possibly coming?
I really hate that man

That's not his idea. I assure you that is coming from the owners(more revenues) or the networks(justify the HUGE TV contracts)....or both. He is but a mouth piece with the owners and/or networks hand way up his @$% making his mouth move.

Wow what a lame brain idea! The system they have now works great, although we did see a losing team make the playoffs year before last.Don't ruin the playoffs with non deserving teams.

This is a discussion that'll need to be moved to Sonic Babble(& I'll start a thread there shortly) but an ESPN analyst really insulted RGIII & questioned his "blackness." I'll leave it at that here.

If this does happen, you'll potentially see losing teams make the playoffs on a regular basis, unless they also change the way teams are chose, like doing away with the divisions and go with the top 8 on each side, even then, you'd probably get losing teams in, t5his would be WORSE than Hockey's playoffs that have had too many teams get in for many many years now.
At least in Hockey they play more than one game to determine who moves on.

Terrible idea, hope it never happens.

Pretty sure they won a playoff game too... so which team becomes the undeserving one?

The team with the losing record!Once the playoffs start all teams are 0-0 and upsets can and will happen.Another factor is the fact that both Denver and Seattle came in at 7-9 but because they were division winners they got home field advantage. Now if the NFL goes to a 16 team playoff system you could see a 6-10 or even worse a 5-11 team come in.That imo tarnishes the playoffs completely. The playoffs are designed to reward the best teams, losing teams shouldn't be rewarded.

On a slightly different note, with the NFL Playoffs being discussed ...
How do you all feel about a team with a less record hosting a Playoff game against a team with a better record ?
They host because they won thier division, is that right ?

They could take the teams, top what is it, 6 in each conference and re seed them according to record ... thus meaning the team with the poor record but won thier division would not host the playoff game even thou they won thier division, at least they got in.

This has been discussed in the offseason for a couple of years, I hope/expect it to happen eventually. Winning your division should get you a playoff spot, that's it. Your record overall should determine your seeding.

I think a good compromise to the extra teams in the playoffs is to make them not guaranteed. If a team with 10 wins for example misses the cut then it triggers a 14 game format where only the 1st seeds get byes, scale it from there to potentially 16 team playoff once the league is expanded to 18 games, 34 teams, etc. Otherwise, if extra teams didn't qualify, the current playoff format holds up.

A true seeding system would be better imo.Winning a division is great but,if a team wins a division with say 7-9 record they shouldn't get home field advantage. It would also help a few games having second stringers in towards the end of the season. Many times a team wraps up a division title knowing that home field is a lock, with a seeding system that wouldn't be the case.

They should leave things as is and no team that has a losing record should make the playoffs or host a playoff game even if they win their division :)
