NFL 2009-10 Season

!protest Rant on:

Okay first off, my team (the Patriots) went 11-5 with their backup QB last season and MISSED the playoffs.

Many Pats fans (I'll be the first to admit that there are MANY insufferable Pats fans) bitched and moaned that the Jets "laid down like dogs" against the Dolphins in week 17, keeping the Pats out of the playoffs.

But guess what? The Pats had no one to blame but themselves, losing to both the Dolphins and Jets in Foxboro. The fact of the matter is, the Pats DIDN'T DO ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS IN 2008!!! It sucks, but it happens, move on!!!

Now today, the Pats with nothing to play for other than a possible #3 seed, lose their MVP for the year and play their All-Pro QB with three broken ribs!

So sorry, I don't want to hear the woe is me from teams that are stinkin' 9-7 and miss the playoffs........not after my team went 11-5 and missed the playoffs last year!

End of rant.................:D
AGREED! and may i add that there are no conspiracies in effect for the NFL. none! what's happening with the playoff schedule is just too many teams with similar records. and plenty of the games in the last 2 weeks in the NFL are usually division games causing a rematch in the first round of the playoffs especially if the division is tight. then you have teams like the cardinals who most of us knew at the begining of the season that they would most probably be back in the playoffs due to a weak division.teams that are not a surprise to me and most of us being in the playoffs are the vikings, packers, cardinals, eagles, cowboys, patriots, colts, chargers and ravens. most of those teams are usually competing for a playoff spot every season. the surprise teams so far for me are the saints and the bengals being in the playoffs. so its not really a stretch to pick most of those teams to make it to the playoffs when a season begins unless the core of players has completely changed. the two teams that shocked me the most with their collapses were the giants and steelers this season.

Damn straight, brother!

Like I said before, the Colts earned the right to make that call!

the colts earned that right but the injury welker suffered today could happen even on the practice field so i disagree with you both. that being said last week was last week and in the case of the pats i would've rested the starters since this game meant nothing at all. nothing. and you don't have a bye week either. a mistake that the pats will regret very soon. the colts and saints did the right thing resting their starters THIS week since they too had nothing to play for. ;)

Welker was not the only impact player that got hurt today.

Anquan Boldin and Charles Woodson were also hurt today.

All those people that were criticizing the Colts for what they did last week- I'll be interested to see what they had to say now in light of these developments.

When I heard about Welker's injury, I understood why the Colts did what they did last week.
 colts had actually something to play for last week. this week is a different story for all these teams. i dont get why play boldin either but whatever

bill by the way tom brady has had broken ribs for the last 3 weeks. in case you didn't know that. just a nugget the pats dropped today before the game began ;)

excellent post!! :up

Sunday Night, national spotlight, last game ever at the Meadowlands, playoff spot on the line for the J-E-T-S.

If they win, Sandra owes Rex Ryan an apology.

 why would she owe him an apology? i'm sorry but they are being handed a playoff spot after the favor indy did for them last week and the possibility of the bengals doing the same since they don't need this game either.

I agree with that, Rey.

In fact, I wouldn't have been upset (with Belichick) if Welker suffered that injury because of contact (especially where it was the Pats first series).

My point is I don't want to hear Team A (or fans) crying because Team B "didn't help them". ;)

Indy's starters scored 15 points in 3 quarters, I think it's wrong to assume they'd won that game. The rest of that game was a joke, if anything the Jets were robbed of the opportunity to make a statement and properly beat the undefeated Colts.

Bengals need this game so that they can play at San Diego for the divisional round where they nearly won, instead of going to Indy.

They have something to play for, a win clinches the 3rd seed rather than the 4th.

The twist here is technically the Bengals can hand pick their opponent.

i understand that but do you think it will be that important to them? both teams will be very tough to beat. and on the colts, i respect your opinion but i feel that if you leave the colts starters in that jets game they would've won it. the jets hadn't given anyone a reason to believe they were going to beat manning and the colts.

It's very important to the Bengals, yes. They almost beat the Chargers in San Diego just a couple weeks ago, and if NE goes on a tear and wins a couple of games, they'd then host New England instead of going to Foxboro where they are 8-0. If the Bengals see them again they'll have been 9-0 in Foxboro and have a road record of just 3-6 (and one of these on a neutral field in Toronto), pretty clear where they'd prefer that game to happen.

I'm done arguing over the Colts/resting stuff, everyone is just picking apart things in hindsight. Doesn't matter if teams lay down or not, they were in a position to take advantage of it. If Denver and the Steelers didn't lay down in the middle of the season the last couple weeks would have been super boring, so thanks for that.

i thought i said i respected your opinion???? who's arguing? i was just posting my opinion on it as well.

wow the bengals sure look like they want this game(sarcasm :D). the jets on the other hand sure look like a team with something to play for. so far it doesn't look good for the houston fans.

They act like they don't want to play Houston at all and are trying to lose this game on purpose.

I'm not completely buying into the theory that lifeless performances in the last week of the season means the team's going nowhere in the postseason.

My Buffalo Bills, in 1990 and 1991, pretty much didn't play any of their key players in their final game of the season- and they STILL reached the Super Bowl.

Ditto the 1994 49ers- they pretty much played all the second-stringers in their season finale- and they won it all.

1999 Rams- same thing.
