NFL 2009-10 Season

I thought you were a Boston Sports fan? Is that only in Baseball? Which bandwagon are you on in football?

That would be the Dallas (we haven't won a playoff game in 15 years, but charge the largest ticket prices in sports) Cowboys!

Peyton Manning is a GREAT QB and a sure fire first ballot HOF!

But sorry folks, in the postseason Tom Brady has outperformed him...........by a LOT!!!

Brady is 14-3 in the postseason throwing to the likes of Troy Brown (who was GREAT, but Brady clearly made him better), David Patten and David Givens (Brady had one postseason with Moss and Welker).

Meanwhile, Manning is 7-8 in the postseason throwing to the likes of Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.

BOTH have had great regular season records (I think they are a game or two apart), but the postseason has belonged to Brady.

Once again, this isn't a "homer" pick. I'd be saying the same thing if I lived in Timbucktoo, Idaho!

Ahhh. The old postseason record comparison vs. the stat machine regular season guy.

I was always the one to argue Dan Marino was the greatest QB of his era, while others picked Joe Montana. There are just too many variables to give the nod to the guy with more rings. But that's just my humble opinion.

I realize titles are what counts most, but with all things considered, I'd still take Marino over Montana (put him on some of those 49er teams and see what kind of records he'd shatter). The same as I'd pick Manning over ANY other QB playing today.

Yeah but Brady had all of the defensive signals. A decade or so of CHEATING by Bellicheat.

Your boy Jimmy Johnson:
After footage from the actual tape was aired on FOX NFL Sunday on September 16, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson claimed, "This is exactly how I was told to do it 18 years ago by a Kansas City Chiefs scout. I tried it, but I didn't think it helped us." Johnson also said, "Bill Belichick was wrong because he videotaped signals after a memo was sent out to all of the teams saying not to do it. But what irritates me is hearing some reactions from players and coaches. These players don't know what their coaches are doing. And some of the coaches have selective amnesia because I know for a fact there were various teams doing this. That's why the memo was sent to everybody. That doesn't make [Belichick] right, but a lot of teams are doing this."[

The league has confirmed it is investigating a possible violation of the personal conduct policy by Browns WR Braylon Edwards. It's not clear if he'd be considered a repeat offender after his 120mph conviction last year.

Ravens have lost Brendan Ayanbadejo for the year with torn quads. They've signed Prescott Burgess from the practice squad, the player they traded to NE but only lasted a week there before being released.

Hahahahaha....Tom Brady Draws Emotionally Roughing The Passer Penalty on Sports Pickle

"I don't think people understand how hard it is to be me. I'm coming back from a knee injury, my team is struggling, I have one child out of wedlock, another child on the way, very high-maintenance dogs to take care of, I'm expected to look stylish all the time and I have the stress of physically satisfying a woman millions of men around the world would love a shot at. And then when someone tackles me, well ..." he said, tearing up. "It can be very, very hard, okay? It can be very hard on my psyche."

Also funny... JaMarcus Russell throws it where only the defender can catch it on Sports Pickle

Raiders head coach Tom Cable says he aims to harness his quarterback's abilities. "JaMarcus does things on the football field that I have never seen before," said Cable. "If I can just flip those to be good things instead of horribly bad things, we'll be golden."

Before anyone overreacts, it's parody news.

NFL is not going to fine Ravens for players for speaking out about the officiating, many interpreting it already as indicating they weren't necessarily uncalled for. More on that probably tomorrow when Eisen and Perrera hook up on Total Access to talk about the potentially blown/confusing calls of the week.

What Peyton Manning is doing this season is just unbelievable. New coaches, new receivers, no running game..... and so what. This guy will be remembered as maybe the very best to play the position.

I agree. I saw him a few years ago on Thanksgiving Day here in Detroit. I think by the 3rd quarter he had like 5 td's and was sitting on the bench. I know that's not saying a lot, because it's the Lions after all, but still. He's pretty damn good.

Since 1983 the NFL champion has been in the top ten in SCORING Defense. It's early in the season, but through Monday October 5 (1/4 of the Season complete) who are the top ten? What are their records?:D

1. Denver Broncos 6.5 4-0
2. San Francisco 13.2 3-1
3. Jets 14.2 3-1
4. Colts 15.5 4-0
4. Redskins 15.5 2-2
6. Giants 16.0 4-0
7. Saints 16.5 4-0
8. Patriots 17.1 3-1
9. Cincinatti 19.0 3-1
10. Bears 19.5 3-1
10. Cowboys 19.5 2-2
10. Pittsburgh 19.5 2-2

Denver seems to be doing better than I expected (Maybe 0 for the next 10 years and I'm a huge fan). We'll see how much the "smoke and mirrors" argument holds over the next 8 weeks with the Pats, Chargers, Bye, Ravens, Steelers, Redskins, Chargers, and Giants coming.:D

oh I am with you here 100%!!!! :up:up hey you feel like coming over for a few beers and talking sports old buddy, old pal!!? :D:D

Everyone talks about Manning vs. Brady.

But what about Manning vs. Favre- both have one Super Bowl ring, three MVPs, and touchdown passes galore.

Crabtree blinks.

After almost 3 weeks of zero contact with the 49ers, Crabtree and his agent met with the team today.

He told the team he wants to play for them this season, if he's not signed prior to 11/17 that wont happen.

What would logos look like if they were updated to reflect their teams' current disparity?

Brett Favre’s matchup with his former team has attracted the largest cable television audience ever.

His Minnesota Vikings’ 30-23 win over the Green Bay Packers on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” was watched by more than 21.8 million people. The previous record was more than 18.6 million viewers for last year’s Monday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
