NFL 2008-09 Season

"Daze Of Our Lions" - Turkey edition

I hope everybody had a great holiday, and that nobody got indigestion watching the Lions. Those of you who remain skeptical about the Lion's chances of running the table in reverse should be firmly convinced after that debacle yesterday.

My Thanksgiving thanks -

I'm thankful that there are only 4 games left. The Lions should have shown thanks, and refunded the ticket prices to those that stayed at least till halftime. The only reason that CBS showed the whole game was because the commercial time had all been sold.

Highlight - (Yes, there is ONE.)

Jason Hanson (K) tied Morten Anderson's NFL record mark of 40 career FG's from at least 50 yds. A HoF candidate if he played for a winner. This guy didn't deserve having to player here all these years.

By the numbers -

33-34-2 The Lion's record on Thanksgiving.

1-7 Their record during the Millen Error.

537 - Combined listed weight of the Duante Culpepper - to - Michael Gaines touchdown combination, (Before Thanksgiving dinner.)

0-11 The Lion's 3 down efficiency.

Strange call of the day -

Fisher throwing the challenge flag even though the Titans were ahead by 37 with 3:39 to go. Really Jeff? (He lost the challenge).

Question of the day -

Why hasn't Marinelli been fired today? Marriucci was fired after the Thanksgiving game 3 yrs ago.

I assume most of you's seen this mess for at least a half - so what else is there for me to say? At least now you've seen what I've had to endure, and maybe have an appreciation for how hard is to come here and find something worth writing about.

What a collection of games yesterday....the Texas/Texas A&M game included.

The Lions "thriller" was background noise doing food prep.
The Seahawks at least showed some offensive prowess, they just bogged down whenever they were in the red-zone. Made a good time to eat.
The Cardinals again exposed on the road, took a nap after the half...and paid no attention to the A&M "contest".

Paul,
From what I saw while getting the Turkey going ....
The Lions looked like a practice squad playing against the Titans.
Maybe a HS team, but I have a HS team down the street that is playing for the State Championship tonight ...
Sylvania Southview, for anyone that cares :)
I'm afraid that the Lions might give them a game. :p

Thats my point with as bad as everyone has been out there, it's still up for grabs .

jim i'm interested on your opinion on the following. do you think it's a good thing that the winner of each division will go to the playoffs no matter how bad there record might be? there could be a team from another division with a much better record but miss the playoffs because of this system. do you agree with it? sabres feel free to chime in on this one too.

I think it's fair.

Imagine if a 60-win team finished second in an NBA division, yet a 42-40 team won a division and made the playoffs.

It's not THEIR fault the rest of the division sucks!

No, I do not agree, sorta, IF your gonna have all the Conference winners in the BCS, you have to enlarge the seedings, make it 12-16 teams instead of only 8...

You can see where this is going , can't you :)

In a follow up nad a tie in from earlier.
Sylvania Southview WON thier HS championship game tonight, just over as I type this ...29-25 over Anderson (Cincy, I think it was)

fwiw, SS is 15-0 this year...
Thats right , they play 15 games so why can't the College guys do this ?

fwiw, they are not missing too many classes either, they will still be able to have thier finals just fine ..... Hello NCAA ...

Is anyone else going to give ANY team in the NFC a chance to make the Super Bowl?

I'm the only guy that seems to do so.

The vibes I hear form the media and everyone is that the rest of the NFC isn't that great, probablyt should just give up and not bother with the supposedly "invincible" Giants.

Well, I'm not kissing New York's big blue butts!

Mark my words- they will NOT repeat!

THE GIANTS WILL NOT REPEAT BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO DAMN OVERRATED AND OVERHYPED!

(However, I picked them to win this week, so I won't complain for another week)

I don't think they will repeat either, but I have not looked closely enough to choose another team that I think will win it all, yet.
fwiw, I will take a AFC team to win ...
particularlly if the Cowboys get in.....
