News Corp. Closer to U.S. Incorporation

News Corp.'s plan to incorporate in the United States takes shape today, with a vote expected to take place this evening (Tuesday in Australia) in Adelaide concerning the move.

News Corp., which has been based in Australia, may have an easier time as a U.S. company, giving U.S. institutional investors a more direct way to buy shares in the company and thus making it easier for the media giant to raise capital. News Corp. will keep its operational headquarters in New York City.

The vote set today (or Tuesday in Adelaide) is for News Corp. shareholders in Australia. U.S.-based News Corp. shareholders had an earlier voting deadline, and according to reports approved the company's move.

News Corp. controls DirecTV and other satellite TV platforms around the planet.
