I skipped the 4 so it makes sense to me. Hoping for better battery life than the 3. They are only giving me $60 for the 3.
save your money, The Apple Milanese Loops are way over priced. My wife likes them so we bought one through Amazon for $18 in rose gold to match her watch.
If I didn't already have the AW4, I would try to get that as opposed to the AW5. The AW3 42mm gets about 70 hours on battery. The AW4 about 40 hours due to the heart monitor and other stuff always on. (Both are Cellular) The 5 may be even less battery due to the always on screen and additional health constant monitoring. The longest lasting battery was my original AW 42mm stainless which was non cellular which would often get 80 hours.
Also, if battery life is important, go for the larger size as it has the bigger battery. My wife was concerned about the 42mm AW3 but I talked her into it and now she is used to it, never complains. She recharges every 3rd night. Her AW3 is also a cellular model.
I got my milanese loop from groupon for $10. Looks exactly like the one from Apple (I checked at the Apple Store).
The battery life on the 4 is great (I still get about 2 days of batter) so it should be better on the 5.
Seems like they still have ALL the iPhones in Unlocked form with delivery on release day still.

You are doing the same as me, but why do you think the 5 should be better? Everything they bragged on is a battery consumer in the changes in the AW5. Did I miss something?
Looks like it will be the same (18 hours). I read an article that said a new type of chip was being used for the always on screen, so I figured the battery would be better.
They offer an options (if you order from Apple) to get it unlocked. Its the same price, so all the phones I have been ordering the past few years are unlocked phones.
All the phones are unlocked except AT&T Next.

I disagree that an Apple TV+ trial period will be damaging unless the product (necessarily including the non-Apple device apps) really stinks on ice. I don't believe that it will be inferior and customers will run screaming. Most services offer a trial now and not offering one might be seen as arrogant.
Maybe Goldman Sachs was giving the stink-eye to the idea of including a free year of service with a device purchase. I think Apple needed to do something given the overwhelming lack of wow in the recent announcements coupled with their exceedingly late entry into a marketplace that they say they need to dominate.
As for the Iger thing, that's very real but it should have happened long ago when both companies were much further from a finished product.

I really don't know what to make of the GS announcement. It didn't really affect the stock price yet and that's the crux of what they were announcing. $165 target is crazy, IMO. Meanwhile as far as the stock is concerned, I do hope it drops back down to $200-$205 for a day. I want to buy back what I sold back when it peaked at $223. What I kept I sold covered calls and if it gets called away at $238 I'll just smile.
Unfortunately, I don't believe my new iMAC qualifies for the free trial. But if I buy a new ipad that would get me the year of Apple TV+. Just not sure if the content is vast enough to keep me interested in it for $4.99. BTW- you may recall I added the paid News app. I found I didn't use it enough to justify the cost so I cancelled. I get too much free news alerts, more than I read already. But it was worth the month to test my wants.
There's quite a bit of negative news on Apple not releasing a 5G iphone this Fall. I decided to dig into the reality because of all the news that Samsung, Apple biggest competitor, is selling one now. The reality is that the 5G roll out is a bit behind schedule and is only active in a few cities for very small sections. Plus the 5G phones from Samsung are not being sold to consumers yet. Only to targeted businesses and beta testers. While carriers like Verizon and Sprint are announcing roll-out to up to 20 cities in the US by the end of the year, the footprint in those cities is quite limited. Testing of 5G peak speeds were awarded to AT&T at 1.8Gbps, Verizon at 1.4Gbps and the competitors like T-mobile and Sprint at a half Gbps. All tested with the Samsung 5G phone.
So, with that reality check, Apple's delay into 5G until Fall of 2020 seems timed about right. They may not be first, but when they get on board with 5G it will be when the consumer is ready to actually use it with their carriers of choice.
Also, My city is not even on the list for 5G until after 2020. Would you buy a 5G at premium price if you couldn't have access to it where you live? Once your city is on the list, is your neighborhood?

My mostly durable theory holds that the value of Apple stock drops in proportion to the significance of the announcement. This announcement was largely a yawner and the price edged up slightly. The next day the price rose. My model doesn't account for a positive price move on the presentation (because it doesn't usually happen).

There are actually a dozen or so Android phones this year that are either 5G ready or 5G capable today.
Why buy a $700-1,300 phone now that won't ever be able to do 5G?
Are there a dozen? I sure haven’t seen that many though I suppose you could count the different models of Moto’s that can use the 5G Moto Mod.
As to why someone would pay that much for a phone that won’t ever do 5G. Well IMO, I don’t believe all the hype and utter BS about how much 5G will actually be available in the next year or so. Right now 5G is all about marketing and hype. Deployed in small areas of some cities and nowhere else and frankly I expect that the number of cities will expand some next year, but coverage in them will still be only in parts of town. And suburban and rural can possibly look forward to some in 2-4 years though rural will never get much of it.

Basically, having 5G right now doesn't get you anything unless you live under a 5G node. Plus, if you have Verizon, you have to buy a 5G Uplift at $10 over the normal premium plan price even if 5G is not available where you live.
