New SatelliteGuys App?

Just got this in my email. Its from the same company who designed our look and makes many of our add ons for us. They are now offering a custom app, and best part is they manage everything.

Only bad part is I don't know the cost and we have no budget. (Lol)

Should I inquire about it and see how much it costs?

I know a lot of folks used our old app, and Tapatalk is pissing everyone off by constantly sending notifications and emails from posts 15 years ago.... so I figured I would pass this by you guys and see if its worth doing and if there is any interest in maybe getting a sponsor or donors for this. I assume its a yearly cost thing.

I am with the majority. I have never used an app in my smartphone. I get along great with just using my cellphone email and Chrome browser with a SatGuy icon on my front page. But, willing to try an app if you get it.

I haven’t used an app for satelliteguys since forumrunner sold out and the buyer ruined it.

That's an easy "Yes"! Once you know, we can decide whether it might be worth it. It wouldn't be worth it for me since I want to read SG on my PCs. They might also have different funding schemes, e.g. user fees, as opposed to you paying for all of us.

I'm typically accessing from desktop browser or phone browser, but can't hurt anything to get an idea on pricing if you have the time to look into it further.

I currently use the “demo version of Tapatalk” on my iPhone. It was the SatelliteGuys app. I tried using Safari but the app is a lot easier to use. You should at least investigate the new app. You never know when the current app will stop working.

No smart phones here so no need for the app.... but others will definitely use it so if price is reasonable and you can cover it with some type of fund-raiser go for it.

Need to see a limited sample of the UI and projected functionality. And cost.

So sure, costs nothing to ask. I assume they intend to offer essentially the same product to many sites, bringing the cost down and thumbing a nose at Tappa.

I'd just lean in to Tapatalk and forgo another standalone solution to babysit (even if they're running it). I recently shut off email from this site in lieu of a solution to the older notifications still going out. Still strange that this is the only site I've seen the issue on and there aren't a bunch of discussions at a glance that this is a routine and expected bug some experience.
