will a new non hd receiver work with the single lnb dish? Also if it does what needs to be done with the new receiver with the remote? The dish was aligned by directv a couple of years ago. We Have a two box hd system in so texas for the winter and will be going back up north for the summer and don't need the hd for the summer. Would like to use existing equipment.

you can use the older 18" dish with a HD receiver. You will only get the SD channels. If the dish is already aimed properly all you have to do is rerun the satellite setup.

The HR34 is a DVR...not just a HD receiver

And yes I'm fully aware the HR34 is SWM only...I have one
