New Multiswitches-Powered or Not?

We have both old and new D* DVRs, and we still have the old 3 LNB dish with a Terk 5x8 multiswitch. When I change to the new 5 LNB dish, isn't it correct that we have to change to a new multiswitch? Are the new switches powered or passive?

Yes you need one that can do Ka/Ku. They are passive. I had a powered one before and gained a free line into the house when I switched (the power line).
