Announced HD for Fall 2007 but not announced for DirecTV yet:

Trinity Broadcasting Network, RFD HD"

The list continues with more HD stations announced but without any word whether D* will carry them. Their list may give us some clues as to what we may see from E* in Sept '07.

Well, for me, that is the whole point. Is E* going to closely mirror what D* is planning on doing, or will they fall behind? I want to sign up with the service that will have the most MOVIE channels in HD and since E* hasn't announced any, I'm weary of joining up with them. I think I might just start a thread on MY pros and cons for each service to get some insight on who to go with. But either way, I'm leaving TWC Columbus and their terrible HD service.

When some carrier has the channels you want, sign up. Don't rely and plans and promises, you won't be able to tune into those on your HDTV. If nobody has what you want now, then wait until someone does. Don't get locked into a committment.

Direct has been saying 1500 National HD, for last year and a half, still not crap, so go with who has what you want now. Dish is adding subscribers 3 times faster than direct and the reason is HD. Do you think they are going to let that slip way behind, I doubt it. Dish still has the best DVR as well. If you are waiting to to how the HD arena pans out, your gonna have another 5 years to wait. I think you can sign up with no commitment but it will cost more.

1500 national HD channels?

Are you sure about that one... I have seen 150 a lot of times but never 1,500 of them. :D

I do agree on the DVR, the 622 is much better then the HR 20. (Although the HR 20 is getting better all the time)

sounds to me scott, you need to get more use out of your hr20 the best there is was and ever will be HDDVR!
do you hook up ota to your hr20, 622?
to me it obvious the hr20 has the best tuner in it as i get ota channels on it that the 622 cant
i can go on and on and do sometimes as you know

IMHO hr20 best thing since sliced bread!

hehe dtv fixes thing during software updates and *ish usually breaks them or removes features

the only channel im waiting for is Nhl Network Hd that Gary said was on the way

D* is the one playing HD catch-up. Notice a fair amount of the "coming" HD D* channels E* has already? A&E HD, FoodHD, HGTV HD, Cinemax HD, Starz HD, NatGeo HD........

I've had both, 622 is better, but not by far. The OTA tuner comment is not fact, but more YOUR experience. I get better SS on the 622 than my HR20 did(closer to my Sony HDTV readings also).

I had several "black" screens that were supposed to be recordings on the HR20, never on the 622.

129 with a Dish 300.....

VIP 622 L409 software update
