It replaced on the new gui with continue watching recordings- select that and it displays all recording progress

I'm Not sure it ever was -as any time I stopped a recording "by Pressing" Exit When I restarted it it always picked up where I left off. Could that have been a Old Tivo option? perhaps.

where was it on the old one? what does it do?

That's not what I am talking about at all. I said that already. This was on a regular HR24 then HR34 and then HR44 and worked with a RC65 remote until, I assume, the new interface when they disabled the color buttons. This is the scenario...

If Person A is watching a show and stops at, say 27:41 and wants to mark that spot because Person B is going to also watch the same show and might finish somewhere else... You used to be able to mark 27:41 with the yellow button and you could skip there like you can to the 15 30 minute marks etc. I hardly used it but it came up today. Continue Watching leaves it where Person B left it. The Stop button or Exit button leaves it where Person B left it. There seems to be no way to time stamp for Person A anymore.

Okay-I understand all I know is the New GUI DID away with the "COLOR" buttons as the RC7X remotes no longer have them -Personal I never used the that option so I hope you forgive me.

Going Forward- (AS) the HR17 No longer supports any thing but Clients - all the Current Equipment and older remotes are no longer going to be included in D* plans anyway at some going forward.

So be prepared for more pain.

I am stubborn and really do not like the new remote at all. I do use it; I only have one receiver but I have two TVs. My living room and bedroom share a wall. The TVs are literally back to back (with a wall in between of course!) I have a HDMI splitter to the bedroom so I must use the RC71 to control the HR44 from my bedroom because of the RF mode nonsense. The 30 Skip and Previous channel buttons are too small and close together. The guide button is too close to record. The menu button is unnecessarily big. Not the mention the loss of ability to control more than just volume on AVRs and TVs. I miss the convenience of the color buttons just being there where it was easy to reach them with my clumsy ass fingers. I can get over these things with lots of time. But I can't stand one thing above all else the longer I use it: THE CLICKING. Why does it click? It drives me nuts. That remote stays in there. Long live the RC65. Only Active, green, yellow, and blue are "dead" buttons so it's not THAT outdated...

I am prepared for more pain. I really don't see many 4K content providers taking the time launching many expensive "traditional" TV channels when they can do it online. Maybe I'm wrong. I probably am. But to me it doesn't make sense. Where are the 4K channels? When will 8K TVs come out and 4K is outdated and this starts all over again? Besides, anything client based is a downgrade in my book.

I think I would seriously consider leaving Directv before they made me take a HS17 in my house. One non-receiver unit sitting somewhere while a buggy client is attached to the TV? No thanks! Didn't I see somewhere that the HS17 doesn't connect to the AM21 either? Not cool.

Since your TV's Share a Wall - Get rid of the R71X- and use the old white remote ( HOW) you ask - Install a IR extender unit- it's small put a eye over the genie IR window - and the the sender eye in the bedroom -That way you can use IR to control the Genie that way.

Now to bring you more Joy :) - The AM21 is no longer offered and was discontinued in 2015 - so if yours Quits Good luck finding another one -and you are correct the HS17 does Not support that either -(because) the AM21 No longer is around

Something like this Amazon product ASIN B07333L9RV

I am now using 0xffc software and here are a couple things that I have noticed that have been fixed.

(1) “When paging down through lists (Playlist, Upcoming Recordings, Series Manager, etc.), highlighted item (blue rectangle) is always the second item down after first page. You have to use up arrow to see the missed item at the top.”

Also the blue rectangle does not disappear after deleting an item from the play list.

(2) “One other thing I have noticed is that the Closed Captioning misses words and even whole sentences at times. Being old and hard of hearing, NOT DEAF, I depend on CC for words I miss or don’t understand. Might not even be the new software but it didn’t do that before.”

It seems new software has cured this as well. BUT, now the font acts weird. When CC is at top of screen it is in all capital letters. When it is at the bottom of the screen it’s capital and lower case letters as it should be, or as I had it set to be.

I just got my Genie 2 system up and running works good. Changing channels is pretty slow, faster on my HR44. I liked the older UI better, maybe once I get used to the new one I'll like it. Also I like the channel number showing up on the left better than on the right.

Oops, the capital letters appear also at the lower portion of the screen.....sometimes.

My parents always have the captions on for my dad. It seems to me from my limited observation that the caps vs lower case in the caps is determined by the program.

I did on Saturday, but I saw a post a couple weeks ago where somebody got one and still has not received it. When I get it, I get it.

Mrs. Manitoba might freak out, but I told her changes are a comin'.

To determine whether a 4K TV model supports HDR, select the Display option via the Settings section of the DIRECTV system menu screen. From there, go to the TV Color section and then select Test TV. The DIRECTV system will then test the TV and show whether it supports HDR content. This screen will also display during the initial installation process after the “Satellite Dish Setup” screen.

ODD i got update this AM but i dont see the TV color section?
Hr-54
samsung 4k HDR

I guess I miss read Scots post so HR54 cant do HDR alone
You must have c61?
As my c61 has the Tvcolor test
