New GEOSATpro microHD Receiver

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

No SID blacklisting feature planned. It may be inconvenient to repeatedly delete channels, but probably not a good idea to blacklist a SID as uplinker's frequently reuse SIDs for replacement channels or multiple services.
As one example, how would you personally deal with rescanning 97W with any regularity? There are a ton of channels on that sat, a huge amount of which you will never ever watch. Was wondering if there could be a way to move new channels from a "new channels only" scan directly to your "favorites", directly from the scan dialog box, if that's what it is called -- so you don't have to go back to a big list and wade through it. If I never deleted any of the worthless channels from a sat, then only truly new channels would show up in new channel only scans, and love -- love of a stb -- means never having to look at stuff you truly don't care about. (Maybe there is a procedure people use to add new channels more easily, maybe I'm just not working effectively with the boxes I've got. I love scanning 93W Ku because there is virtually nothing there to have to deal with. 30W on the other hand throws a bunch of junk at me. And so forth.)

By the way, does your box have multiple "favorites" locations like the Pansat 9200HD?

In terms of any potential solution, think elegance: What would Steve Jobs do?

Will the box also ship from your Canadian distributer for those ordering in Canada?

Our Canadian distributor will be carrying the microHD. Several Canadian resellers have contacted us about carrying the unit, so you should have a choice or resellers.

Currently, new channels are automatically placed at the end of an unsorted channel list. I am certain that some feature could be developed, and you have presented a few interesting suggestions.

Currently supports 10 Favorite Lists

Understood, but....... Oh, I could have soooooooo much fun with this one...... ;)

Apple elegance is tied to a simplified and defined experience. You accept the product in the configuration and features that Apple provides. PERIOD.... No hobbyist mode included.

Steve jobs probably would have only sold the features that he viewed as important, then allow you to share the FTA programs only to devices that he sold to you! ;)

BTW.... I am not an Apple basher. I have owned Macs for over 20 years.... from my first Plus with the gigantic 20MB (yes, MB) hard drive that cost over $500! to my current collection of a iMac, iPhone, iPad.

I not sure this has been asked before but will the new receiver be able to keep your favorites list intact when a blindscan is preformed. On other receivers when a blindscan is done any name changes that were done with channels revert back to what is picked up during a blindscan.

stion is similar to the earlier

I understand that often a customer renames a channel or adds additional parameters for various reasons and does not want the edited channel to be overwritten.

A Blind or Transponder Scan typically will refresh the information on an existing service ID or add a new service into the channel list for any modified existing SID. We have previously developed firmware packages that would not update existing SIDs, but then a Service ID must be deleted if any parameter changes before scanning. This often resulted in confusion when a customer scans and the existing channel will not update even though the PIDs or tablle information had changed.

We could possibly add a menu function to the scan screen for locking existing SIDs so they cannot be overwritten. We would need to study this more to determine if this function could be supported.

Whenever I am recording a feed, I just bump up the recording time so that the receiver will record the entire feed. I know that whenever the TP goes dark, the recording will end automatically.

The negative to this process is that if the downlink is interrupted for any reason (weather, uplink hick-up, etc) the recording has stopped and will not automatically resume. Unfortunately, the ability to restart an interupted timer event is not possible.

Brian, today when I placed my Openbox S9 receiver back to factory defaults and performed blind scans one each satellite I thought about the one thing that I don't like about the Openbox S9 and most other satellite receivers and this is...

When a blind scan is performed the signal strength is not shown. The only receiver I know that displays the signal strength are the Coolsat receivers. With a coolsat you can see the signal jump above 5% when a signal is present. This makes it very easy to know that if no channels are detected that at least you are close and just might need to bump the dish E or W a bit. Does the microHD display the signal strength during a blind scan?

Currently there is no signal meter in the Blind Scan mode. We will look into the possibility of adding this feature for a future firmware release.

The GEOSATpro DVR1100 and DSR200 receivers both have the signal meter in the blind scan mode screen. Never used them to touch up dish aiming during a scan, but that is a good idea.

Apple makes fine products. But they are keyed to the consumer which is why they are popular; most are interested in what the products do, not how they do it. But I've never bought an Apple computer since it didn't allow free experimentation. Don't go Apple!

When I use my CNX-Nano v1, I get to see the signal strength meter. I really like it that way cause I know that I am hitting my satellite close enough to do the fine tuning if needed.

Do you mean Glorystar? Or is there a hardware only distributor in Canada? I couldn't find from your website or Google.

Yes, he means glorystar Canada. If I remember right, they have a distribution center in Ontario. Just google Glorystar Canada. It will take you to the Canadian store.
