need help

just had dish installed with the 811, hd does not seem to work. how can i check to see if hd signal is getting to tv??b (very new to all this)

Are you paying for Dish HD package (with or w/o Voom) or HBO or Showtime or are you in a CBS O&O market and getting locals from Dish? Do you have on OTA antenna hooked-up?

You got a HD box but you need to get HD content from one or more of the sources noted above.

W/o telling us all your info don't know how to answer.

First, disconnect all the cables except the DVI and/or component (YPrPb) cables. Then change your set's video source until you get a picture. To get HD, you need a digital source. S-video and composite (R-W-Y) don't work. You will need to connect the audio cables from the 811 to your TV's digital port audio inputs.

Second, hook up an antenna to the antenna input on the back of the 811.

Third, select Menu 6-1-5 (Locals) and scan for digital, then save.

also make sure you have your 811 set to output either 1080i or 720p. I think it comes factory set at 480P

Thanks for the help - I do have the HD PAK from dish. I changed the factory setting of 480 to 1080 on the 811 receiver. This was set up by a Dish Tech, and he used YPrPb cables. Should I be using DVI cable?
