Need 522 HD Diagnostic Help

Last night my 522 unexpectedly started hard disk diagnostics, so I left it on and went to bed. When I turned it on this morning (600 minutes later) it was still going. I decided to cancel it. Now it has been canceling for 25 minutes plus. I'm afraid to turn the unit off, but it may be my only option. What should I do?

You should call and get a new receiver. Every time I've run into that scenario it's an endless loop.

Before doing that, I decided to shut it off. (Nothing to lose, right?) Once it powered up again, it was back to normal. All timers and saved programs were intact. Should I assume that this (or worse) will continue happening?

ive had it happen numerous times...just too lazy to call about it.
