NCAA Football 2014 season

It isn't that the Coastal sucks by no means...its just that many teams are unproven from new starting QB's to replacing guys on either line. Nobody has a flipping clue if VT for example is going to do anything all because of the offense. On paper and in the minds of many in CFB they recognize that VT should have a top 5 defense this year but won't do no good without an offense and a spark on special teams. UNC is favorite to some to win the division but again lots of unproven parts of the team as with Miami, GT and even Duke. UVA has no chance at doing much again this year because their schedule is just horrible and that is bad for London too since I'm sure if they don't come out with a winning season he's gone. No idea with Pitt but some have looked at them to be a surprise team too so its really gonna depend on who shines after the first 2-3 weeks.

As for the OSU game that VT has its 2nd week, win or lose (as long as its tight) could speak worlds for the rest of VT's season. OSU they said had a 8% chance at running the table this year, this was before Miller went out and their schedule isn't that light as people say and could get better as the season goes on. All I have to say is VT's defense will be sniffing out fear in any rookie QB, they always have and that is something Foster projects into his guys - you can bet he will blitz the sh*t out of them if he suspects it will rattle a rookie QB and he can stuff some run game.
Hopefully, being able to run (QB as well as the handful of RB's they have going this year.)will stifle the blitz some.

Only chance at prime time is the only thing I can think of.

Most of the big schools refuse to play on Thursday. Most SEC coaches are on record as saying they'll never play a Thursday game.

I personally hate them. Even being a 45 min. drive from Grant Field, I'm not going to drive into Atlanta for a night game, when I have to work the next day (thankfully we don't have any Thurs games this year). Saturday is easy to make plans for, Thursday not so.
The thing about the Va Tech game on Thursday, is that the game against the Bucks your talking about ?
Isn't that the 1st Thursday of the year, I think THAT is why its being played on Thursday ... I prefer Sat. as well.

As much as I enjoy a mid week game as it gives me something to watch until I drift off, I would rather ALL of the games bama plays in be on a saturday (which they are).
Even the times we have been in the BCS champ game I groan, as its a monday night and I get up at 4 in the morning. Ughh.
MONDAY nights for the MNC is just plain DUMB if they want people there and watching ... Thye could very easily make the MNC game on a Saturday Night with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it ... then EVERYBODY can watch it and have thier parties as they don't have to be up to work on Sundays ... A friend and I have been talking about this for Years.

The good ole days when Big 10 played FCS schools!

They really didn't play that many AA teams, Appalachian State may have been the only one that year, at least for the major players in the Big Ten ... App St happened to be thier Division CHAMPS the year before.

Did I mention I will be owning a pair of these?

Can't imagine what THEY cost.

As I said opening season polls I don't agree with - give it a few games but there is nothing you or I can do about it they will always be there.
I agree, If they waited till after like game 4, then voted would be better, but then again we wouldn't be having a Ranking discussion if they didn't do them early !

Still pretty damn embarrassing.
Got paid a million dollars to get their ass kicked and came away with a victory....

what? I have no idea what you just said. Two different conversations is what we were having. The OSU/VT game is on a Saturday night 8pm 3 weeks weeks from now. Now next year OSU comes to VT and the game is set for Monday night Laborday 8pmEST.

Oh, OK, I was trying to catch up in this thread, must have got the two mixed up.
For some reason I was thinking I had heard something about our game being on Thursday, maybe that was next year, not sure.

Not allowed to, the NFL is not allowed to broadcast a game within 75 miles of a High School or College game played on Friday or Saturday between Labor Day and New Years. It was a restriction added in the anti trust exemption that allowed them to merge with the AFL.

How would that stop the NCAA from playing their championship on saturday? Or did I misunderstand?

No, I misunderstood. I missed the part about MNC and thought he was talking about the NFL's MNF.

But yes, I agree having the Championship on Monday is stupid.

A big reason I can see why ESPN keeps it there, is to avoid conflict with the NFL who airs Saturday divisional playoff games during that time.

FSU has gone from tip toeing around to everyone on the field against the Ok St scout team. Fisher's interview was good today and he is very respectful of Ok St (won 41 games in 4 years!). I cant friggin wait until 8/30.
