NCAA Football 2014 season

Go look at the national championships from that conference over the past decade or so. 7 out of 8, 8 out of 11. And they have been in 100% of the Championships games the last 8 years with the only loss by 3 points. What other conclusion is there? Heck in some of the games the SEC has been on both sidelines! Do you see them rotating championships between GT and VaTech and FSU? The thought of say Clemson playing VaTech for a national Championship is as probable as Aliens landing their spaceship on my house.

Thank you, for proving my point.

I disgaree about the expectation. This school just gets NO WHERE near the amount of media hype the other schools do. Nebraska's football tradition is as big as school in the country.
I see his point though. They have no real rivalries since the move to the Big 10. Thus their expectation is to be competitive in the conference and win it every few years.

At the others however, they have those same expectations and "must win" games that even with a division or conference title, if they lose those, the season is a failure and fans will call for their head.

I also disagree here. Nebraska's program recruits everywhere...and in the more western parts of the midwest(?), they recruit alot better than Florida and Michigan.
Florida and Michigan also recruit everywhere, but Florida has the advantage of being in Florida, so more local top talent that they dont have to go outside to get, and Michigan also has a far larger local pool to pull from as well.

Nebraskas biggest thing they have going in their less talent rich area is they dont have any competition for it.

You must not know too many Cornhusker fans. ;)

Oklahoma, Iowa, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Kansas State, Utah, Colorado, Texas... those are only the ones off the top pf my head.

Not the same thing. Florida primarily battles Miami, FSU, and to a lesser extent the rising in state schools for in state talent that wants to stay close to home.

Texas battles A&M, tcu, ect for the same recruits in texas.

So on with many big name schools in their respective states.

Nebraska battles no one for those same recruits in nebraska. LSU has a similar setup. It is them and some directional schools, so very little competition for in state talent that wants to stay there.

Everyone goes for those that want to leave. Sure.

As far as my statement, it was about their expectations. The Huskers have always expected to be in the national title hunt...at least the 5-7 'Husker alumni I know. The biggest rilvary was Oklahoma.
Of course most big name programs want to be in the nat title hunt, Nebraska, Florida, and Michigan are together in that. I would not put any above the other in that regard.

I miss those old Nebraska/Oklahoma matchups. Sadly, Nebraska just does not have those games anymore.

Not sure where you're getting that Nebraska recruits better than Florida, I know it's not the be all end all, but Florida since 2000 has had 25 more players drafted in the NFL including twice as many 1st rounders.

Now has Florida missed out on some recruits? Absolutely, especially on offense. But recruiting isn't Florida's problem the last 4 year's, it's coaching.

Bill Curry is a great example. Nothing but winning seasons at Alabama, even going 10-1 in his final season, but unfortunately the -1 was Auburn. He never managed to beat the War Chickens, so the Alumni ran him off.

I think he meant in that region.

But yes, Florida and michigan have both consistently ranked in the top 10 recruiting recently with Nebraska ranking from 15-25ish. Not that the on field results have backed those class rankings up necessarily.

Sadly, Nebraska hasn't came to the Big Ten and won enough to help them out of the doldrums .. We were all counting on them at least helping.
Michigan is a major problem, once they get it turned around and back in the Top 10-15 and Penn State too, then the BTW will start to move up the ladder .... Ohio State and to a smaller degree Michigan State have had to carry the BTW for the last 10 years.

And now we’re learning the rest of the story. Reportedly.

Just a short time ago, multiple media outlets reported that Florida had overcome Jim McElwain‘s $7.5 million buyout hurdle and tapped the Colorado State head coach for the same job at UF. The Gators subsequently confirmed McElwain’s hiring via social media, with an introductory press conference scheduled for Saturday.

The university also confirmed that McElwain’s contract is six years in length and will average $3.5 million annually. In 2014, McElwain earned $1.5 million in total pay.
