Well.....the main thing is that he is healthy. I tell ya, when you have ALL of your main horses healthy....it means A TON!

They are off to a 3-0 start and looking good so far. They killed a teribble streak by FINALLY winning in Indianapolis for the 1st time in almost 4 years(15 games in a row)!

...Rondo deal worth at least $55 Million....

That brings next year's Celtics payroll to $65 million, whereas the cap figure is just under $58 million, but there will not be a penalty because Rondo was resigned as a three year player.

Perkins, Garnett, Wallace and Davis are all signed through next year, and Pierce has a player option that he will surely realize that will add another $20,000,000 meaning that the 2010-2011 Celtics will be hard pressed to afford a quality #2 guard. They could resign Ray Allen without salary cap penalty, but I don't see how they could possibly justify paying what it costs for a top quality shooting guard if Pierce's option pushes them up to $65 milliion. Allen would have to agree to play for less than his market value to make it work. And kiss wonderkind Sheldon Williams goodbye. They could use a mid-level salary exemption of $5 to $6 million to keep Williams, but then they'd be a $80+ million dollar team (paying $10 million for a shooting guard and $5 or $6 million for Williams), which I'm not sure they are willing to be. No matter how they could finagle money for Williams, realistically, he will be more valuable to other teams that would give him more minutes. Scalabrine coming off the books does open up enough salary to keep Daniels, if he works out and is amenable for playing for a couple million or so.

A Turning Point?

What I saw last night was a team that for the first time all season looked like the Cavs we loved last year. After falling behind by 18 points in the first quarter to the Wizards, they played suffocating defense all night long. More than that, they enjoyed watching each other succeed.

Up until last night, there were flashes of being a complete team, but most of those were when the old starting line-up was on the floor. But last night something clicked.

Did you see Shaq leap off the bench to congratulate Daniel Gibson? Did you see the permanent smile on his face in the second half? Did you see LeBron rolling on the floor (literally) laughing when he was on the bench? Did you see players giving 100% when it was their time on the floor? Did you see more players than just Andy Varejao going all out for loose balls and taking charges? Did you see Mo Williams get excited when Shaq knocked Mike Miller’s shot into the abyss? So did I! And that is kind of what I’m talking about when I say turning point. Dare I even say chemistry?

It isn’t just that the Cavs were having fun playing the game of basketball. It was that they were having fun playing CAVALIER basketball. They ratcheted the defense up when they needed offense. They played unselfish ball at the offensive end. Extra passes were made. Big men ran the floor and were rewarded with easy baskets. That is the turning point I’m talking about.

Buckle up kids, it's gonna be a great season! You're Cleveland Cavaliers got their SWAGGER back!!!!!

Oscar Robertson and Jerry Lucas are hall of famers who played together but never won an NBA title until they each had a hall-of fame center as a teammate. Ditto for Jerry West and Elgin Baylor (actually, while Baylor is in the 1972 team picture, he didn't make it to the end of that season). Ditto for Bob Cousey, Frank Ramsey and Bill Sharman. Ditto for Julius Erving, who played with hall-of fame wannabe George McGinnis.

Kobe and Lebron should each hope to get paired with the best available center. Otherwise, they will simply get to spend frustrating seasons going: my turn, your turn, my turn, your turn.
