although i did not like the move i agree he has the right to do this. he's done this before yet stern has never brought it up. this move he's about to make is hypocritical.
having said that i didn't even bother to watch the game.....

I agree too. A simple way around next time is to put those players on the injury report, and list them as 'day-to-day'...

My point is, teams are raising ticket prices for games against 'elite teams'. What if you paid those higher prices and the healthy 'elite players' don't show??

Believe me...I understand what your saying. Especially for partial packages. I bought a weekend package for Marlins games this past season and the regular price for the seats I had were only $13 a game if I paid a full season. BUT for the partial, the cost came out to $18 per seat.

I have NO ISSUES late in the seaon because it IS a long season with alot of travel and quite a few back-to-back nights...but 14 games into the season?! Really?

Though he IS a joke...but what about the fans in Miami that paid good money to see Duncan, Ginobli and Parker in their ONLY visit to Miami? Rest them in February. The season JUST STARTED.

Don't the fans in Miami come to see the heat play? This goes right to the heart of the problem with the NBA, it's not about the team it's about individuals. It's about the event, not about the game. David Stern might of built the NBA up, but he's done it at the cost of basketball.

Is he going to tell coaches how many minutes fans deserve to see a superstar player, next?

Look at the schedule leading up to this game, I think Pop was giving a big FU to the schedule maker. I think that's awesome.

Yes they DO come see the Heat play. But they ALSO would like the BEST teams play the best players. Do you want you Celtics playing the Washington Wizards every game? Of course not. You want to see them play the best teams and the best players.

The NBA was and has been about the players and teams since WAY BEFORE Stern. In the late 70s and early 80s, BEFORE Stern was commish, yeah it was Celtics, Laker, Sixers...but it was more about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and Dr. J and Moses Malone...as much if not MORE.

Amazes to me how flip flop people can be... one minute, pro-fans....next pro-teams...10 minutes later...pro-players.

I guess to each his own.

what if San won the game? could of Stern still fine them? or just a tv/fan game now? and coaching doesn't matter anymore, Pop doesn't own the fans of Miami or TNT nothing

Last year, Doc Rivers rested Garnett and Pierce in an April game when Ray Allen was out with an injury. This is a tough one for the league to fine-tune. It is more palatable at the end of the season, but even then, there have been howls in the last couple of years when a team whose seeding had been locked in rested players when playing a team playing it as a must-win game.

The regular season means very little in basketball because the payoffs are diluted by so many teams. Reason I do not watch regular season NBA games anymore. Other sports like baseball things like this does not happen even if the team is no longer in qualification for a playoff spot. There is a certain pride to show the other team. Stern needs to look at the entire NBA system and figure out a way for this not to happen. The way it is,now does not work.

And there you said the magic phrase: "Doc Rivers rested Garnett and Pierce IN APRIL. I do not think anyone would mind in March and April...but just 14 games into the season?!

Rondo has ten rebounds in the first half against Philadelphia tonight. I wonder how many centers have not had their first, ten rebound half yet this year. Heck, I wonder how many have never had a ten rebound half in theri careers.

Lakers are done after losing to the worst team in the NBA.. the Cavs.

Clippers on the other hand.. looking pretty decent.

You still got time loco.....

Celtic's Brazilian rookie Fab Melo set an NBA D-League record with 14 blocked shots as part of his triple double. He is raw, but under Celtics control for four seasons, with team options of about $1.4 million and $2.3 million in his third and fourth year.

Right now, the Celtics have about half a dozen serviceable guards but no stud. Garnett and Pierce are at the stage of their careers where, once very couple of weeks, they have a big game and supporters say, "See, they've still 'got it' ", but they don't.
