NBA 2008-09 Season

This is going to be an awesome weekend of Basketball! Not only do we have the NCAA Division Championships going on, but in the NBA we have a few more appealing games...

Friday March 6th: Cleveland @ Boston- 8:00PM, ESPN
Friday March 6th: Denver @ Utah- 10:30PM, ESPN

Saturday March 7th: Detroit @ Atlanta- 7:00PM, Fox Sports Detroit Plus & SportsSouth HD
Saturday March 7th: Miami @ Cleveland- 7:30PM, Sun Sports HD & Fox Sports Ohio HD

Sunday March 8th: Orlando @ Boston- 1:00PM, Fox Sports Florida
Sunday March 8th: Phoenix @ San Antonio- 3:30PM, ABC

Some observations about last nights game:

- WOW!! That was fun to watch...too bad we could not get OT and have BOTH players get 50!! This stupid rule about have only so many games is just ridiculous!! Like HD said, only the local markets and people with the NBA Season Pass(and from what I have heard/read, not too many people buy it) got to see 2 of the best players IN THE PLANET got at....shame really.:(

- Spoelstra was truly disappointed me that he has one of the top 3pt shooters in the league sitting on his bench when the team was shooting enough bricks to build a new church. Believe me when I say that defense was decent by Cleveland to basically limit the Heat to one shot and very if, if any offensive rebounds, but the shots were there....and plenty of them. They were only 2 for 19 in the last 8 minutes of play. Daquan Cook COULD HAVE had a say in the matter every time they double teamed Wade...which was basically the entire game.

- Last night, I was finally convinced that Lebron IS THE BEST PLAYER in the NBA and quite possibly THE BEST ATHLETE in THE WORLD TODAY!!! BUT, with that said, D. Wade is STILL the league MVP and Mo Williams proved that yesterday. EVERY TIME that the Cavs needed a shot that could NOT be provided by Lebron, there was Mo Williams. If it WEREN'T for Mo, the game MAY have a different outcome OR they would STILL BE PLAYING right now! Every time Wade needed a big shot in the 4th, there was really no one to be found.

...once again, ALL things being equal, you take Wade OUT and take Lebron OUT of the equation, the Cavs make the playoffs and the Heat MIGHT win 20 games.:(

- And finally, here is THE WORST thing about last night, after the game I went to bed and actually had this HORRIBLE nightmare the D. Wade AND Lebron James left their current teams and signed with SOMEONE ELSE TOGETHER!!!! I swear I woke up in a cold sweat!!!:eek::eek::eek:

I think he was talking about players on opposing teams.

Good game btw Salsa, eh?

It was a great game! I had a friend at the game and said the atmosphere was ELECTRIC!! He told me, that about 1 hour that Lebron put on this dunk show WITH D. Wade that would make the Slam Dunk competition envious for years to come!! He took some video...according to him:rolleyes:...on his cell phone and he was gonna send it too me...we sahll see..

And just think, these teams play AGAIN on Saturday in Cleveland! And again, of course, the game will only be seen on the local affiliates! I wish the NBA would adopt a flex schedule like the NFL where during the regular season, they could use their judgment to bump certain games to National TV. Last night may have been the best game ever seen by so few. And that's a damn shame.

The key to the game was when the Cavs started double teaming Wade. When they did that, it forced the ball out of his hands and we took the chances of having someone else try and beat us. Obviously that didn't happen. And btw, I also found it odd that Daquan Cook wasn't out there during the final minutes too.

Both are excellent athletes and players. I will leave it at that. ;)

OMG! Don't say that!

What a game! 2 in a row for the Cavs on the road when trailing in the 4th quarter against a playoff team! This has been a magical season for Cavs fans. D-Wade certainly is the real deal....I wish I could see more of his team's games.

The interior defense is still a major concern for me (although they locked down in the 4th quarter last night). I have nightmares of Dwight Howard going wild against the Cavs in the playoffs.

I USE to think that the NBA would always want to market the best players and team, but obviously, it now just down to the best teams....period. The scary part is, good you imagine IF the ANY of the two NYC area teams were any good....we good a steady dose of Nets and Knicks games rammed down our collective throats!

Well, they knew that once Wade was going to get his points ANYWAY, they double team him at the right times....at half court and when he got down close to the post. There is NO OTHER SG that can cover him in the low post.

Listen, just because you are the MVP, does not mean you are the best player in the league or even the conference. My comments are not to take away of how could that Lebron is, like I said, I am now convinced he IS the best player in the world today, but it is MORE of reflection of HOW GOOD the TEAM is compared to the Heat team. You could not look yourself in the mirror and actually think that that Cavs team could not make the playoffs if Lebron was NOT on the team. Then look at that team in Miami WITHOUT Wade and you would be seeing the Sacramento Kings or the Oklahoma City whatever-their-name-is.....

OMG! Don't say that!

I kid you not I had that dream!! It was a snippet too!! I just remember them having a press conference TOGETHER and one reporter asked them two questions: How does it feel to play with your best friend on the same team and what do you wanna say to your former teams, the Cavs and the Heat...??

...and that's when I woke up in a cold sweat...litterally and figuratively!:(

holy crap! don't say that. this would suck for both teams but at least there's some talent surrounding james.what would miami have left without wade??? we'd go back to the early days of the heat. that's a nightmare!

Last year basically proved how important D-Wade is when 100% healthy- without him, they were a nearly-historically bad team.

There was a famous line in baseball about how bad the Cubs were-"Without (Ernie Banks), the Cubs would finish in Albuquerque." You could say the same thing in this situation about Flash.

They have a fine young team surrounding Wade. They're just young that's all....

Beasley, Cook and Chalmers will all be excellent pro players.

The Heat can be a little Jekyll/Hyde-ish and sometimes REALLY drive Heat fans crazy. They have beaten VERY good teams BOTH on the road AND at home...AND they have lost to some really bad teams, BOTH on the road and home.

As far as the Magic, I think it COULD be a bad match-up for the Cavs IF they DO NOT have BOTH the big European stiff and Buckwheat. That would be two GOOD strong bodies you can throw at Howard....

i do like cook and chalmers but i'm not totally convinced on beasley yet. you don't think we'll regret drafting beasley? supposedly miami was involving him in a trade before the past deadline.

"The European stiff and Buckwheat"!!! LOL. I find it amazing how little people outside of Cleveland know about Ilgauskas and Varejao. These guys have been key to a many Cavaliers victories.

Oh and BTW, a little birdy told me we will be acquiring a new Big later on in the week..... his name is Joe Smith! Welcome back Joe!!!!

I think the verdict is still out on Beasley, but I think he'll become a good player. He's still only 20 years old. It takes some longer to adjust to the pro-level than others.

But for full disclosure, I did state on these boards before the '08 draft that I liked OJ Mayo better than Beasley. And I still do.

But the problem was IF the Heat would have take Mayo, where would he play? He plays the 2 spot. He sure as hell was not gonna seat Wade and he is WAY too small for the 3.
