NBA 2008-09 Season

1. Why do you think the Lakers are "more legit than the Cavs"?

Because they have been in and out of either the West Finals/NBA Championship the last 3 to 4 years, they play in a tougher conference as far as competition is concerned. Simple really.

2. And by "legit" I mean, are they the best team in the West as their record currently indicates? I guess we'll find out whether or not once their home/away schedule ratio plays out. That's why we play the games after all....

Again, do not go by regular season record all the time....it's a mirage. Having the best record in the regular season does not mean ANYTHING. Like I have stated before, the #1 seed in both conferences has won the NBA championship only 5 or 6 times in the last 11 years dating back to the '97-98 season, the last time the Bulls won it.

Has someone put something in Eddie House's Cheerios??!!

Last Wednesday in Miami he set a career high with 7 three-pointers.

Sunday against Dallas , he got 7 three-pointers again!

That brings us to tonight against Sacramento: Eddie has set a new career high with 8 three-pointers and there's still about five minutes left in the game!

The Garden crowd is going absolute bonkers chanting: Eddie!!! Eddie!!! Eddie!!!

No...Eddie House has always been a very good player. He really did not get a fair shake in Miami.:(

22 point win.....6 players in double figues....50 points off the bench and D. Wade messes around and almost got a triple double. Wade...14 pt....9 rebs....9 dimes...3 steals....3 blocks....ZERO turnovers.:up:D

And there's that kids Chalmers again....10 pts...5 rebs....7 dimes...3 steals...1 TO

AND without the Marion for the 4th night in a row. This team is just one good big man away from being with the Celtics, Cavs and the Lakers.;)

Sorry to call you out, but you're wrong AGAIN.....

Let's review how the discussed teams ended their seasons the last 3-4 years.

'04-'06: Lakers- 4th place in Division. Missed playoffs.
'05-'06: Lakers- 3rd place in Division. Eliminated in First round of playoffs.
'06-'07: Lakers- 2nd place in Division. Eliminated in First round of playoffs.
'07-'08: Lakers- 1st place in Divison. Eliminated in NBA Finals.
'08-'09: Lakers- ?

'04-'05: Cavs- 4th place in Division. Missed playoffs.
'05-'06: Cavs- 2nd place in Division. Eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs.
'06-'07: Cavs- 2nd place in Division. Eliminated in NBA Finals.
'07-'08: Cavs- 2nd place in Division. Eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs (against eventual NBA Champion Cletics).
'08-'09: Cavs- ?

Tell me again, why are the Lakers "more legit than the Cavs"???

Fine, we'll go by your argument that the "regular season is all a mirage". Let's look at playoffs only...

Besides the seasons that the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs and the one season they made it to the Championship, they were eliminated in the first round the other two occasions. The Cavs on the other hand at least made it to the second round and were eliminated from the playoffs two years in a row by the eventual NBA Champions. Tell me again, who's "more legit"???

I'm not so sure that the West is stronger than the East anymore. The West certainly has more depth as far as quality teams go, BUT the West also has five of the six worst teams in the NBA.

So sure the Lakers have to play the New Orleans, San Antonios, Houstons, Phoenixs, Denvers, etc. four times each, but they also get to play Memphis, Oklahoma City, the Clippers, Sacramento, Golden State and Minnesota four times each.

Nice doubleheader tonight...

8:00 Cleveland - Orlando

Home court is going to be huge between these two and the Celtics

10:30 San Antonio - Phoenix

One of these days the Suns are going to figure out what kind of team they are.

Who they were eliminated by means nothing, they were eliminated....period. Funny how you didn't put in who the Lakers were eliminated by?

2005-6....eliminated by the Western Conference Champs
2006-7...eliminated by the Wester Conference Runner-up
2007-8...Lost in the Finals to the Celtics

So if you look at it, DID make the mistaken of the initial comment. MY comment about the lakers being "more worthy" was based on my opinion. You have shown no proof, conclusive or otherwise that you are neither right nor wrong.

So I ask you, other than the homer in you, have you proven then ARE more worthy than the Lakers?

Your OPINION?! Your stinking opinion?! Are you kidding me? What is this opinion based on? Because it certainly isn't based on facts! Back it up before you make such a bold statement Mr. Chip Dip!

Again, you started this whole thing. I didn't say the "Lakers are more legit that the Cavs". You did! And when I asked you to clarify, you responded based on false information. I'm just setting the record straight. No need for false claims going around on message boards....

BZZZZZZ. Wrong! They HAVE NOT been in and out of either the Western Conference Finals or NBA Championship the last 3-4 years. They've sniffed one of those ONCE in the time frame you speak of. You make these Lakers seem like the Bulls dynasty of the 90's.

Please do not knee-jerk too much, you might hurt yourself. Try reading before you start posting. I stated in th same box you just replied to that I DID make the mistaken. BUT my statement of being MORE WORTH had to do with MY OPINION and not some fact that you can find in wikipedia....If you look at the track record the last few years between the two...it almost EXACTLY alike...switch a year here...switch a year there..and you litterally have the same results. YOUR reason you think they more worthy is simply based on YOUR opinion.....PERIOD.

Try not let your homer-ness blind objectivity.;)

I guess we'll find out tonight who really holds the true super powers! Gawd, I can't wait until 8pm tonight!! This game is gonna be SAAAAWEEEETTTTT!!!!!:D

PS, don't mention the homecourt and playoff thingy around Salsa. He doesn't think it means squat. Shhhhh. ;)

BZZZZ wrong again. If you were on Family Feud, you'd have three X's by now!

My turn:

In the last 4 years, both the Cavs and Lakers have been to an NBA Championship. They also both had a year in which they didn't even make the playoffs. That's where the similarities end.

Now here's the biggest difference between the two. Read carefully, I don't want your head to exploded...

The Lakers were bounced TWICE in the first round of the playoffs.

In the Cavs other two years, they made it to the second round both times.

So you see, the Cavs actually have had more success that the Lakers had in the last 4 years. They have advanced further in the playoffs than the Lakers. Case closed. Save the bickering for Sandra. I'm done with you.

Try not let your homer-ness blind objectivity.;)

I am a homer, but not a blind, deaf and dumb homer. My comments are based on fact and substance. Your's is based on a bologna sandwich.

Ok....1st round/2nd round...not that black and white my friend. Did you see WHO the Lakers and WHO the Cavs had to play the 1st round? Give it a look. They BOTH have been eliminated in the Finals with the Lakers doing MUCH better than the Cavs did.[/QUOTE]

WHAT facts have you shown that they are MORE worthy?? You showed the history that is pretty much similar. If your proof is that they went into the 2nd round a FEW YEARS AGO....Sorry, I counter that with the Lakers being eliminated LAST YEAR in the NBA Finals AND at least winning a game or two.....;)

By the way, I did not say you were "blind, deaf or dumb"....you did.;)

So, did everyone see the new cover of Sports Illustrated? My boy's on the cover again.... :)
