Nascar tops out about 280? Indy can do 320?They certainly stopped getting faster at Indy! They could, but safety can only go so high. I think there are limits on the engines, using the same general engine these days.

If those numbers are in the units of slugs/dyne... yes.Nascar tops out about 280? Indy can do 320?
Then they'd have to put wipers on the car as well ...
But you also must remember the Formula 1 race in Monaco is on before that.Well, there is a certain most watched race on the planet that starts around Noon that day.

280 what ?Nascar tops out about 280? Indy can do 320?
I thought they went a lot faster.280 what ?
Top speeds are now right around 200 mph ...
300 mph is drag racing.I thought they went a lot faster.
They could go faster if they took the restrictor plates off.I thought they went a lot faster.
I know they were over the 200 mph mark for awhile at MIS before they were doing the restrictor plates. They could go faster if they took the restrictor plates off.
Well what do you expect. A 6 hour rain delay didn't help. Nobody wants to sit there and listen to somebody do interviews etc. As soon as it started raining I switched over to hockey.

I think they were around 225 down the back stretch, but that was not the track avg speed.
Back in '87 Bill Elliott pole position at Daytona was 210.364 ...
So that was a full lap avg.
Uncertain what his top speed was on that lap.
I was at MIS watching qualifying .... the Indy cars were qualifying after the NASCAR guys were done ... the Indy guys were zipping around at 235 ish iirc.
Those speeds may be ok for an Indy car, entirely different type of set up ... way to fast for NASCAR.In 1996 Luyendyk had a qualifying lap of 237.498. I don't watch Indycar anymore but nowadays it's a little slower.
I think it will be good enough to race but it's going to be a screwed up mess, That's what they get for having a dirt race in the spring[ rainy season ]. Idiots! If its too muddy to run today, do they really think tomorrows mud will be much better ?
