NASCAR 2013 season

Picture quality on Fox looks soft especially when compared to the race on ESPN yesterday, anyone else notice this?

And did I hear Dale Waltrip correctly when he said that Danica Patrick thought she blew her engine when she lost the draft on her car yesterday and parked it? jeeze......

Good job with the advertising by Fox:rolleyes: BTW what was the deal with James Franco saying "Drivers and Danica, are you ready?" Danica is not considered a driver?
That's what I was thinking, I could see if it was gentlemen and Danica but...

Used to be huge Nascar fan . was an Earnhardt fan then Dale Jarrett after Earnhardt passed. Been away for a few years, but think this year I'll be watching more again. Could do without all the extra hoopla, just give me the racing, but I guess that's what we get with Daytona. Hopfully I'll feel the same excitement I used to!! :)

yawn....besides a couple of accidents, talk about a snooze fest.I like the appearance of the gen6 cars but,it's virtually impossible to make a pass on them.Unless the 1st place car wrecks, blows up,or gets screwed by a bad pit stop, they stay in 1st place.I will say good job by Danica Patrick though.

The charge that Jr.and Martin, made on the last lap, looked to me like Biffle and Patrick slowed down thinking there would be a caution.

Was listening to the NASCAR channel post race. I forget the host's name. Anyway he said that NASCAR looked at a bunch of different parameters, talked to all kinds of engineers, talked to team owners crew chiefs...The car they have is the best they could come up with. The one issue with it is it was not designed with plate track racing as a priority. That's what the guy said. Ok I will bite.
We have a flat mile track, a 2 miler, a 1.5 mile cookie cutter and two short tracks.
IMO the big test of the Gen 6 car is the intermediate track performance.
My biggest gripe is with the Gen 5 car the leader could not be passed. Period. The drivers all said the same thing, once they got along side the leader. If they were outside the car would get the aero push and plow up the track. If they were on the bottom, the ass end would get loose...
For today's finish it looked like both the 16 and 10 cars got disinvited to the party. Schooled.
Patrick was racing with Junior. Biffle was the only Ford near the front.
When it came down to the money, Junior was going to go with Johnson because that's the guy to beat. So he left Patrick. She ended up behind Biffle who being in a Ford had no help. And no one is going to go with Patrick, yet. So there ya have it.

I wouldn't give a dime for those 1.5 mile cookie cutter cloned tracks. The super speedways are what it's all about imho. They have effectively eliminated the draft,at least for this daytona 500.The gen 5 cars had more passes than the gen 6.Drivers would drop back to the tail of the pack then 2 laps later be in first and second.I have a feeling if things stay as they are now,Jimmie Johnson, and Chevy will be winning a lot of boring races this year.
